Devonta Freeman, Matt Bryant both expected to miss Week 7 for ATL; Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu expected to play
Devonta Freeman and Matt Bryant are both expected to sit in Week 7. The Falcons take on the Giants at home on Monday night, so we may not have confirmation regarding the status of any of the players listed here, but it's looking very much like it'll be the Tevin Coleman-Ito Smith show yet again. The Giants aren't an imposing run defense and the Falcons should control the flow of this game, so expect more rushing volume for Coleman/Smith than we've seen the last few weeks with Freeman down. Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu are both expected to play, but if either can't go, Justin Hardy would figure to pick up more snaps while the target share for Julio Jones and Austin Hooper could rise slightly.
Mohamed Sanu OUT for Atlanta this week; Julio Jones questionable
Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn told media this morning that Mohamed Sanu is out for the Falcons this week while Julio Jones is questionable with a turf toe injury. It's a bump for Taylor Gabriel and Justin Hardy could also see a few more opportunities head his way. The Falcons face a Rams team that is middle of the pack in pass defense (16th in DVOA). Jones, if he goes, could be a great play at low ownership as most will be afraid of his injury. Gabriel is also an option (even more so if Jones doesn't play) but he is a very high-risk play that could easily put up a goose egg in your lineup.
Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu do not practice today for Atlanta
The Falcons could be short their two top WR's this week as their status is in doubt after missing practice on Wednesday. Jones is battling turf toe while Sanu is dealing with a groin injury. Taylor Gabriel could be in line for a big role if one of those two sit. Justin Hardy also stands to benefit if Jones or Sanu don't play. We'll update you over the course of the week on the status of these two.
