Sean Culkin (Achilles) Placed on IR, Stephen Anderson Promoted to Active Roster
Culkin wasn't actively involved in the passing game, and Stephen Anderson won't be, but this does make the Chargers' injury problems at TE worse. They were already without Hunter Henry and Virgil Green in Week 4, meaning Culkin played 58% of the snaps last week. The Chargers will need to lean further on Lance Kendricks until their TE's start to get healthy.
Chargers Sign TE Lance Kendricks
With the Chargers losing Hunter Henry for the season, they've signed veteran TE Lance Kendricks. The Chargers TE targets will be split between Virgil Green and Kenricks, with neither a strong DFS option.
TE Jimmy Graham (thumb) not practicing Wednesday
After breaking his thumb in Week 11, Graham indicated he would try to play through it in Week 12 but is not off to the right start ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings. Lance Kendricks will see the majority of TE snaps if Graham ultimately can't play, though Graham was only averaging about 5 targets per game prior to the injury.
Martellus Bennett doubtful for Week 9
He's looking unlikely to play on Monday night, setting up Lance Kendricks and Richard Rodgers to see an uptick in snaps and targets. Kendricks has been seeing a higher snap percentage between the two and is the better pass-catching option, so if you're looking for a dart-throw GPP punt at TE, Kendricks is the more viable GB option. Neither has all that much appeal with Brett Hundley under center and Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb still vying for targets.
Kenny Britt listed as 'DNP' Thursday
Britt may rest for the Rams' final game. Tavon Austin, Brian Quick, and Lance Kendricks would all see some extra targets against the Cardinals. None of them would be great options in fantasy though; Los Angeles has an implied team total of 17 points.
Tavon Austin (chest) doubtful for Sunday
Austin missed practice all week and isn't expected to play on Sunday. Kenny Britt will continue to be the Rams' leading receiver, he's had a team-high 17 targets since Jared Goff became their quarterback. Lance Kendricks is second with 14, while Brian Quick is third with eight. All three should pick up some extra targets this week with Austin out, but it won't be a huge uptick over the past two weeks as Austin had just three targets per game during that stretch. Los Angeles are 13.5-point underdogs against the Patriots, which favors the passing game. Plus, the Patriots rank 28th in pass DVOA. Still, they have an exceptionally low implied team total of 15.5 points and they have Jared Goff under center; it won't be a great spot to target the Rams' skill players.
