Goalie takes on team who has not scored in nearly 200 minutes

Curtis McElhinney has yet to be confirmed, but with Petr Mrazek starting last night and a somewhat soft opponent in Buffalo, it is likely McElhinney will get the nod. Jack Eichel is set to return for the Sabres tonight which will certainly help their offense, but the team has struggled mightily after their hot start to the season. The Sabres have a single regulation win in their last 14 games. Meanwhile, Carolina continues to produce strong results. A sizzling Sergei Bobrovsky stood in their way last night. Curtis (or Mrazek if he starts) make for an affordable option in the crease if looking for a likely win in cash games.

In tournaments, taking a chance on either Linus Ullmark or Carter Hutton makes sense as they should see a heavy number of shots. Though Carolina's offense has been much better with the addition of Nino Niederreiter, time and time again this season we have seen goalies put up massive numbers against Carolina. Buffalo's goalie is cheap, contrarian and could be a difference maker in tournaments.

Netminder looks to end team's five game losing streak

After winning 10 games in a row, the Sabres have dropped five consecutive games including an ugly 6-2 loss against the Flyers on Sunday as Philadelphia scored six unanswered goals. Hosting the Los Angeles Kings could not come at a better time for Buffalo and Linus Ullmark. The Kings have just four wins in 13 attempts on the road, and they check in as a heavy underdog, even with Buffalo on a slide. Linus Ullmark's price on FanDuel ($7,700) jumps out as Buffalo should bounce back tonight. On DraftKings ($7,900), Ullmark is also in play though his price is clustered around more reliable names like Pekka Rinne, Frederik Andersen and so on. The Kings put up 43 shots last night, and while they're unlikely to duplicate that tonight, they should send 30-plus shots Ullmark's way. So long as the Buffalo defense doesn't make silly mistakes, Ullmark should have a strong start.

On FanDuel, Laurent Brossoit who will get the call against the Blackhawks is another fine alternative at the same price as Ullmark, so if building multiple lineups, gaining some exposure makes a lot of sense.

Using a Buffalo Sabres goalie is far from safe

Let's face it, the Buffalo Sabres stink. However, they are at home and taking on another terrible team in the Montreal Canadiens. Linus Ullmark will be between the pipes for Buffalo tonight and although the Sabres are home underdogs, I think Ullmark is a decent play tonight. He is very cheap, on home ice, and taking on a bad team. That is normally a recipe for success. This is more about targeting the bad Habs offence than anything, but that's okay. There are going to be a couple chalky goalies tonight but Ullmark has just as much upside as anybody else tonight because he should face a decent amount of shots but given that the Habs cannot score, he could rack up the saves and hopefully pick up the win.
