Josh Allen Will Start, Matt Barkley Likely Will Also Play Sunday for Bills

The Bills are planning to play some of their starters, but the amount of playing time they will get isn't clear. Josh Allen will start at QB, but Matt Barkley is expected to play as well. The timeshare makes both risky plays this week.

Bills QB Josh Allen (Concussion) Expected to Play Vs. Titans

Allen has cleared concussion protocol following the massive hit he took vs. the Patriots last week in the second half. Though this is undoubtedly an upgrade for the Bills over journeyman Matt Barkley, Allen and the Bills offense should be avoided for DFS purposes. The O/U sits below 40, even with Allen's return. The Titans have allowed the fourth-lowest rushing success rate of teams playing on the main slate, so the Bills' RBBC and Allen will likely have a tough time getting things going on the ground. Arguably the biggest impact of Allen's presence under center are the prospects for WR John Brown, who is nothing more than a large-field GPP dart throw this weekend.

Josh Allen Remains in Concussion Protocol, Could Clear Saturday and Play Sunday

Allen was a full participant in practice Friday, but he remains in the concussion protocol. He can still pass the protocol tomorrow, and he will play Sunday if he does pass the tests. If not, Matt Barkley will start for Buffalo against the Titans.

Josh Allen (Concussion) Limited in Practice Wednesday

Allen is still in the concussion protocol but was able to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity. He will obviously need to clear the concussion protocol before playing, but he is trending the right direction. Matt Barkley will start if Allen is still out.

Josh Allen in Concussion Protocol

Allen is currently in the concussion protocol, putting his Week 5 status in doubt. If he can't go, Matt Barkley will be the QB for the Bills. Allen has been one of the most productive rushing QB's in the NFL, with 11 TD's rushing in 16 games, but it does open him up to more hits. Barkley went 9-16 passing for 127 yards with 1 pick in relief of Allen on Sunday, so there is likely little fantasy value if he plays.

Josh Allen (elbow) ruled out for Sunday, QB Matt Barkley is expected to start

Josh Allen has been ruled out for Sunday due to his elbow injury, and QB Matt Barkley is expected to get the start against the Jets. It appears the Bills have seen enough of Nathan Peterman, opting to give Barkley the reigns on the road for week 10. There isn't much to be optimistic about for anyone on the Bills offense, and the change at QB does little to make anyone on the team fantasy-relevant. Look for the Jets DST to be a popular defensive option on the week 10 slate.

Jay Cutler will have season ending surgery

We weren't expecting Cutler back anytime soon and now we know for certain that it won't be anytime in the 2016 season as the team has announced he will undergo surgery. Matt Barkley will be the starting QB for the Bears moving forward.

Matt Barkley starting for Bears, Jay Cutler officially inactive Sunday

Barkley has a career completion percentage of 55.4%. He's thrown zero touchdowns and six interceptions. Chicago has the lowest implied total on the board at 17.75 points. It's a great spot to fade the entire Bears' offense and start the Tennessee Titans DST.

Jay Cutler not ruled out yet for this week

Bears Head Coach John Fox refuses to rule out Jay Cutler for this week saying instead he is day-to-day. It still appears unlikely that he will play leaving Matt Barkley to man the helm against the Tennessee Titans. While Barkley is not a very good QB, the match up against a Titans defense that is vulnerable to the pass at least puts him on the radar as a value QB option.
