Nathan Peterman Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

CHI QB Justin Fields (hip) has been ruled out Week 18; QB Nathan Peterman will start.

CHI QB Justin Fields (hip) has been ruled out Week 18; QB Nathan Peterman will start.

Charles Clay week-to-week for Bills; starting QB for Week 10 unclear

Charles Clay is considered week-to-week for the Bills, so it's very likely we'll see some sort of committee in place against the Jets in Week 10. The Bills are not an offense worth targeting in any fashion at this point, but the Jets D/ST unit figures to be one of the most heavily targeted groups for DFS purposes, as opposing defenses have had a field day against the Bills QB carousel. It's still unclear who will start at QB this coming Sunday, but the Bills have stated that Derek Anderson will start if he's healthy and Josh Allen is unable to go, signaling that Nathan Peterman is last in line.

Derek Anderson (concussion) officially out Sunday; Nathan Peterman will start

Anderson has officially been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears as he remains in the NFL's concussion protocol. This will allow Nathan Peterman to start at quarterback and, to put it mildly, has struggled to begin his career when given the opportunity. Not that Anderson has been highly efficient in his starts, but his absence is certainly a boost to the projected value of the Bears defense, as Buffalo currently owns a laughable 13.75 implied team total, easily the lowest of the week.

Nathan Peterman expected to start in Week 9

Nathan Peterman is expected to start Week 9 for the Bills after Derek Anderson sustained a concussion in their week 8 loss to New England. Peterman has been picked apart by opposing DSTs, and this week finds himself facing the Chicago Bears. No one from the Bills offense is viable in this matchup with Peterman under center, and the Bears DST will be a popular play for week 9.

Buffalo quarterback situation trending from bad to worse

Prior to last week's battle in the snow with the Bills deemed the mobility of Tyrod Taylor as a major concern thus opting to start rookie Nathan Peterman instead. Unfortunately for Peterman and the Bills, injury ( concussion) forced him from the game and the team was forced to finish with third-string QB Joe Webb. Peterman should be considered questionable for Week 15. but if healthy it looks like Tyrod Taylor will start. If neither player is ready to go then the Bills will have to rely on Joe Webb for another week. Webb has played some wide receiver in his career and should provide some mobility in the pocket if he happens to start this weekend.

Tyrod Taylor (knee) inactive Sunday; Nathan Peterman will start at QB

Taylor won't suit up for today's game against the Indianapolis Colts after previously being listed as questionable on the Buffalo Bills' injury report and considered a game-time decision with a knee injury. As expected, Nathan Peterman will be under center for the Bills and looks to bounce back from his brutal NFL debut where he threw five interceptions in one half against a stingy Los Angeles Chargers defense. Weather could play a big factor in his effectiveness but he does draw a great matchup against a Colts defense that ranks 28th in pass defense DVOA on the season.

Nathan Peterman expected to start at QB for Buffalo on Sunday

Per Schefter, Peterman will get the nod on Sunday with Tyrod Taylor still ailing. This is a downgrade for all of the Bills skill-position players, but LeSean McCoy is still squarely in play against Indy's suspect defense.

Colts CB Pierre Desir placed on IR

Desir was starting at corner for the Colts in place of Vontae Davis. After tearing a muscle in his shoulder Sunday, he was placed on IR though, which leaves the team even thinner in their already-weak secondary. Their best remaining DB, Rashaan Melvin, was sidelined in Week 13 and Blake Bortles tore them up, completing 74% of his passes for 309 yards and two scores. Melvin isn’t expected back this week, leaving them with Quincy Wilson and Kenny Moore on the outside, who would rank 99th and 111th in PFF coverage grades if they qualified. On top of that, the Colts are 29th in adjusted sack rate and generally struggle to apply pressure on QBs. It’s going to be incredibly hard to trust Nathan Peterman and his pass-catchers if he starts in place of Tyrod Taylor (knee) but this matchup is worlds apart from his debut against the Chargers.

Nathan Peterman will start at QB for Bills Week 11

Peterman will replace Tyrod Taylor when the Bills take on the Chargers this Sunday. The rookie will have a challenging spot for his first start. The Chargers, led by a trio of strong corners - all of whom are among PFF's top 16 cover CBs - are sixth in pass DVOA (per FO), eighth in yards per attempt (6.6), and limiting QBs to the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game. On top of boasting a strong secondary, they have developed one of the best pass-rushes in football. LA has racked up the second-most sacks (29) and find themselves ranked third in adjusted sack rate. Fortunately for Peterman, Buffalo's offensive line has held strong this season, allowing the sixth-fewest total pressures so far. While that should help him in some capacity, he'll still need to release the ball in a timely fashion which is typically a struggle for rookie quarterbacks. Peterman's presence will likely be a downgrade for the receivers at the beginning but it'll be worth keeping an eye on the Bills to see if the QB can develop some chemistry with his pass-catchers. The Chargers D/ST will likely be a popular option this week.

Tyrod Taylor remains in concussion protocol; Nathan Peterman will start if needed

Taylor's health has improved enough since suffering a concussion on August 26th to participate in practice Monday but he's still questionable for Week 1. In the event he doesn't clear the protocol before Sunday, Peterman would get the nod. He's earned high praise from the Bills this preseason with coach Sean McDermott going as far as saying they're "extremely confident in Nathan." The rookie QB went 9-for-11 for 81 yards in Week 4 of the preseason against the Lions. However, he's not going to be a viable option in DFS. Instead, Buffalo should give LeSean McCoy as much work as he can handle. The running back is expected to have a favorable game script at home against the Jets given the eight-point spread favoring the Bills, although that line will likely move some if Taylor is ultimately ruled out.
