Nikola Jokic (illness) will start tonight
Jokic will play and start in tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after previously being listed as questionable on the Nuggets' injury report with an illness that had forced him to miss two consecutive games. His and Danilo Gallinari's availability will send Mason Plumlee and Juancho Hernangomez back to the bench to resume their reserve roles, while Will Barton should also be expected to see a reduction in playing time. However, Nuggets head coach Mike Malone did mention that he is unsure just how much playing time Jokic will see in his return given his inability to practice or participate in shootarounds this week. Jokic obviously possesses massive upside in this matchup if he is able to play his full allotment of minutes, but that seems like a big "if" right now. Should Jokic be limited in any way, Plumlee would immediately become an amazing tournament play on the late slate and may be worth a couple shares in tournaments if rolling out multiple lineups.
Danilo Gallinari (illness) will play tonight; Nikola Jokic (illness) expected to "try to give it a go", will start if he plays
Gallinari will play in tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after previously being listed as questionable on the Nuggets' injury report with vertigo that had forced him to miss one game. His availability will send Juancho Hernangomez back to the bench to resume role, while Will Barton should also be expected to see a reduction in playing time. Nuggets head coach Mike Malone also said that he expects Nikola Jokic to try to play in tonight's contest, pending approval from the Denver medical staff. If Jokic is able to suit up, he will replace Mason Plumlee in the starting lineup at center, though it is certainly tentative just how much playing time he will see in his potential return given his inability to practice or participate in shootaround.
Nikola Jokic takes part in team shootaround this morning for Nuggets; status to be determined still
Yesterday, Jokic's status for tonight seemed in doubt as he was very weak but he seems to have made nice progress as he took part in the team shootaround this morning. His status for tonight is still very much up in the air but we'll keep a close eye on the situation and update as soon as more news comes in. Mason Plumlee's value would take an obvious hit if Jokic sits.
Nikola Jokic (illness) officially questionable for Friday; Kenneth Faried (back) doubtful
Updating a previous report: Nikola Jokic is now officially listed as questionable due to an illness and Kenneth Faried is listed as doubtful. Mason Plumlee will once again start if Jokic is out but we'll have to wait for another update from the team tomorrow after shootaround.
Danilo Gallinari (illness) questionable for Friday; Nikola Jokic (illness) unable to practice, no official status designated
Gallinari was unable to play in last night's game due to an illness and Juan Hernangomez started in his place. Hernangomez played 29 minutes and scored over 24 fantasy points. Hernangomez will remain a viable punt option on Friday if Gallinari is forced to miss again. Keep your expectations in check because Hernangomez picked up 9 rebounds and had 3 combined steals and blocks. His usage rate of 10% was pretty low and if he's not picking up peripherals against the Celtics, he'll struggle to exceed value. Nikola Jokic has missed the past two games due to flu-like symptoms and Mason Plumlee has started in his place both times. Plumlee has played 31 minutes on both occations and should be considered an elite play if Jokic is out again. Kenneth Faried (back) remains without a timetable to return.
Nikola Jokic (illness) and Danilo Gallinari (illness) ruled out tonight
Wilson Chandler leads the Nuggets in usage with Jokic, Gallinari and Faried off the floor this season, and he's an elite target in all formats this evening. Chandler's usage sits at 25.7% with those three off the court, a +1.6% bump from his season total. He's also averaging 1.12 FPPM in that scenario, which gives him an excellent shot at returning value against the Wizards. He's not the only player who picks up value - Mason Plumlee should see upwards of 30 minutes on Wednesday, which makes him one of the best mid-range plays at the center spot in late contests. Will Barton will also take on added responsibility at the SF position with Danilo Gallinari ruled out. Chandler, Plumlee, Barton and Harris are all very strong plays in late slates.
Nikola Jokic questionable, not doubtful, according to Nuggets Head Coach Mike Malone
Updating our previous report, Denver Head Coach Mike Malone stated that Jokic is questionable, not doubtful, to play tonight. If he is able to go, he's always in play and faces a middle-of-the-pack Wizards defense. His return would remove Mason Plumlee as a viable DFS option and be a hit to the usage of Wilson Chandler.
Nikola Jokic doubtful for Nuggets tonight due to illness
Jokic remains sidelined with an illness and does not appear as if he will play tonight for Denver. Mason Plumlee should see another healthy allotment of minutes and is in play as a DFS option tonight. Also it's a significant boost in Wilson Chandler's usage and he should be considered a top option if Jokic sits.
Nikola Jokic (illness) questionable for Wednesday; Kenneth Faried (back) has been ruled out
Jokic has officially been listed as questionable for tomorrow's game against the Washington Wizards after missing the Nuggets previous game due to the same aforementioned illness. If Jokic is unable to suit up, Mason Plumlee will draw the start at center once again in his absence and saw 31 minutes of action on Monday as the starting center. He should be expected to continue assuming Jokic's role in the rotation as long as he remains sidelined with Roy Hibbert the only available center off the bench. Outside of Plumlee, no other Nuggets starter sees a substantial boost in and usage or fantasy production, though Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari would just be further solidified as solid plays should Jokic be ruled out on Wednesday.
Nikola Jokic (illness) ruled out tonight; Mason Plumlee will start at center
Jokic will not play in tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings after previously being listed as questionable on the Nuggets' injury report due to an illness. Mason Plumlee will draw the start at center in his absence and should be expected to essentially take over Jokic's in the rotation with only Roy Hibbert available off the bench as a backup center. Plumlee is clearly the primary beneficiary of this injury news and is now a fantastic option in all formats on the late slate. Outside of Plumlee, no other Nuggets starter sees a substantial boost in and usage or fantasy production, though Gary Harris, Wilson Chandler, and Danilo Gallinari are just further solidified as solid plays.
