Nikola Jokic flirts with triple-double
Jokic rebounded after a subpar effort in the front end of the home-and-home, as he managed to stay out of foul trouble in the rematch. He has 10 or more points and 10 or more rebounds in eight of his past 10 outings, including three triple-doubles. Jokic has emerged as a top-10 fantasy option and he should continue to put up huge numbers as the Nuggets fight for a spot in the postseason.
Nikola Jokic gets into foul trouble
Yuck. He picked up two fouls in the first quarter and never really could get it going after that. Jokic is obviously fine and two of these fouls were on the offensive end, so it's not like it was on bad shooting fouls -- that tends to be his undoing in bad games. Expect Jokic to be a top-10 player the rest of the way.
Nikola Jokic drops another triple-double
That is five triple-doubles in his last 20 games, so look out Russell Westbrook. There really isn't much left to say about Jokic outside of how he's looking like a lock to be drafted in the first round of fantasy drafts next year. The Nuggets are also one of the hottest teams in basketball with their second-ranked offense since the break, so Jokic is a DFS stud unless he's in foul trouble. They have a 2.5 game cushion on the Blazers to hold their No. 8 seed.
Nikola Jokic scores 20 with 14 rebounds
Only two assists? That's actually his lowest dime total in a 2017 game. Still, Jokic is back after a five-day bout with the flu, posting a 21-point game in a win on Friday. The Nuggets also got a big win on a road back-to-back while the Mavs, Blazers and Wolves all lost today. That gives them a full 2.0 lead over the Blazers for the No. 8 spot. They're also five back for the No. 7 spot because the Grizzlies have lost five straight, As for Jokic in fantasy, you know what to do.
Nikola Jokic, Danilo Gallinari starting
The Nuggets use their probable tag more than anyone in the league, so they were both expected to play the entire time. Jokic should feast against the Kings defense tonight.
Nikola Jokic (illness) is probable
This is a standard operating procedure for the Nuggets to list guys as probable after they missed time. We're fully expecting Jokic to play and thrive in this back-to-back game.
Nikola Jokic (illness) will start tonight
Jokic will play and start in tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after previously being listed as questionable on the Nuggets' injury report with an illness that had forced him to miss two consecutive games. His and Danilo Gallinari's availability will send Mason Plumlee and Juancho Hernangomez back to the bench to resume their reserve roles, while Will Barton should also be expected to see a reduction in playing time. However, Nuggets head coach Mike Malone did mention that he is unsure just how much playing time Jokic will see in his return given his inability to practice or participate in shootarounds this week. Jokic obviously possesses massive upside in this matchup if he is able to play his full allotment of minutes, but that seems like a big "if" right now. Should Jokic be limited in any way, Plumlee would immediately become an amazing tournament play on the late slate and may be worth a couple shares in tournaments if rolling out multiple lineups.
Jokic scores 21 w/ 10 boards and 7 assists
Not too bad for a guy that was considered "very questionable" just a few hours before tip-off. Jokic looked exhausted at times, but carried his team tonight and shot 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-6 from the line with four steals and one block in 27 minutes. More importantly, he helped the Nuggets hold onto the No. 8 seed in the West with the Blazers, Mavericks and Wolves all closing in. The Nuggets play again on Saturday vs. the Kings, so hopefully Jokic still has some gas left in the tank.
Danilo Gallinari (illness) will play tonight; Nikola Jokic (illness) expected to "try to give it a go", will start if he plays
Gallinari will play in tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after previously being listed as questionable on the Nuggets' injury report with vertigo that had forced him to miss one game. His availability will send Juancho Hernangomez back to the bench to resume role, while Will Barton should also be expected to see a reduction in playing time. Nuggets head coach Mike Malone also said that he expects Nikola Jokic to try to play in tonight's contest, pending approval from the Denver medical staff. If Jokic is able to suit up, he will replace Mason Plumlee in the starting lineup at center, though it is certainly tentative just how much playing time he will see in his potential return given his inability to practice or participate in shootaround.
Nikola Jokic (illness) says he will play
He was considered doubtful on Thursday and was called "very questionable" early Friday morning, but he will return from a two-game absence. Jokic said he's still congested and he's obviously not going to be close to 100 percent, but he belongs in all season-long lineups. The Nuggets desperately need a win to hang onto the No. 8 seed, so this is a huge relief for Denver fans and his fantasy owners. Expect Mason Plumlee to head back to the bench.
