Peyton Manning will start at QB for Broncos next week
This news was kind of expected after Manning took the field last week, especially with the Broncos having a week off. While Brock Osweiler performed admirably and Manning has struggled at times this season, this has to be considered good news for a struggling Broncos offense. Peyton won't be a particularly appealing DFS option next weekend, but it remains to be seen who he'll face off against.
Broncos are now 'Brock Osweiler's team'
Per Jay Glazer, Brock Osweiler will be the Broncos starting QB barring a major collapse. This would seemingly also carry over to the playoffs, and that's not really a big surprise given that Peyton Manning doesn't appear to be fully healthy at this point and the HGH rumors can't make the Broncos any more likely to give him another shot. Osweiler has really struggled in the 2nd halves of games this year and has generally regressed in recent weeks, so he won't be a recommended DFS option in Week 17 or in the playoffs. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are still viable GPP targets given that they eat up the large majority of Osweiler's targets.
Broncos "starting from scratch" with QB situation
Kubiak reportedly hopes to have a plan in place by Wednesday as to who will draw the start at QB against the Bengals on Monday night. Strangely enough, Kubiak also noted that "nothing has changed" in the same interview, so it's hard to know what he's thinking at the moment. Brock Osweiler has shown some positive signs in his starts but is having trouble putting points on the board in the second half of games, so it may make sense for the Broncos to turn back to Peyton Manning before the playoff run begins. We'll know more on this situation on Wednesday.
Peyton Manning set to practice this week, but Osweiler will start vs. PIT
While Peyton Manning will be back to practicing at some point this week, Brock Osweiler will still get the nod as the starter in Week 15 against Pittsburgh. The Broncos offense has been a shell of itself since Peyton's struggles began, and that hasn't changed under Osweiler. After a nice game to start his career, Osweiler has taken steps back in recent weeks and does not appear to be a long term option for Denver. Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have struggled relative to what we typically expect as far as fantasy production, with Sanders being impacted the most, as he's totaled just 5 catches for 36 yards combined over the past two games, while Thomas has corralled 16 receptions for 156 yards and a TD over that same span. Thomas is a nice GPP target this week against a Pittsburgh defense that is much easier to beat through the air, and they especially struggle to contain outside WRs. The entire Broncos offense is out of play in cash games.
Peyton Manning will not play in Week 11, Osweiler to start
Coach Gary Kubiak has confirmed that Peyton Manning will sit Sunday vs. Chicago, leaving Brock Osweiler as the starter. Osweiler certainly looked better than Peyton on Sunday, finishing 14-24 for 146 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Manning played what will go down as the worst regular season game of his career, completing just 25% of his passes and throwing 4 INTs. The Broncos skill position players may not experience much of a downgrade in terms of DFS value. Osweiler's lone TD went to Andre Caldwell, but a full week of practice with the first unit will help the outlook of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders (if healthy).
Peyton Manning has torn plantar fascia
The future Hall-of-Famer has a torn plantar fascia in his left foot and might be in danger of missing this weeks game. Brock Osweiler would get the start if that were the case and would make for a very intriguing punt option at QB.
Peyton Manning has a rib cage injury, probable for Sunday
Not a huge concern other than affecting his ability to throw the ball downfield but Peyton Manning was added to the injury report with a rib cage injury. He is probable for Sunday.
