Moderately Priced Line Stack With Sneaky Upside
If you're looking for value tonight, consider taking the second line of Boston which features David Krejci, Rick Nash, and Danton Heinen. A point per game player at home this year, Krejci and his linemates aren't required to play the "tough" minutes against the opposition's top scoring threats and are among the league leaders in offensive zone faceoffs and scoring chances generated on home ice. Also seeing time on the league's sixth ranked power play, look for Boston's second line to be very active on the man advantage tonight against a Columbus penalty kill that ranks 23rd in the NHL and will be without their best defenseman in Seth Jones tonight.
Rangers' center certain to fly under-the-radar
It has been a disaster of a season for the New York Rangers, and in particular, Mika Zibanejad has slowed down, posting just three points in 10 games after the All-Star Break. However, in a battle of two teams essentially playing the season out, anything goes, especially with Antti Niemi guarding the crease for the Montreal Canadiens. Antti has resembled Swiss cheese for several seasons running, and this season is no different as the veteran has posted a pathetic 4.18 GAA and ghastly .880 SV% in 13 appearances. Mika Zibanejad sports the New York Rangers top HDCF% at 58.27% with Rick Nash right behind him, and while this duo has yet to really skate with each other, finding goals should not be a problem against Antti Niemi. Zibanejad and Nash make for a low-owned, high-upside combination in tournaments, and linemate Pavel Buchnevich as well as defenseman Brady Skjei could join the fun too as they join Zibanejad and Nash on the team's top power play unit.
Nash's Numbers Check Out for Nice Game
To be clear, Nash is more of a differentiation or tournament play than cash game staple, but he is playing well and has a nice matchup. Pittsburgh remains a vulnerable defense at 5v5, whereas Nash has been good based on his underlying numbers. Nash is top among Ranger regulars in iCF/60 and second in iHDCF/60. He has looked like his vintage power forward self, and this game easily has track meet appeal. With Nash getting shots to the net on the regular and the Penguins likely to give a back-to-back start to Tristan Jarry again (or a subpar Casey DeSmith), the door is wide open for Nash to produce a strong stat line this afternoon.
Top Line Stack With Tremendous Potential
If you are looking to maximize the potential of a line stack tonight, look towards the top line of New York which features Mika Zibanejad, Rick Nash, and J.T. Miller. They draw a great matchup against an overratted Vegas squad that allows the most shots and scoring chances among available teams tonight. Also featured on New York's top power play unit, this trio should be very active on the man advantage tonight against a tired Vegas team that will be playing on consecutive nights on the road. In a game that should play at a fast pace between two poor defensive teams, loading up on the top line for New York could pay major dividends tonight.
Big Potential In The Big Apple
If you are looking to maximize the potential of a line stack tonight, look towards the top line of New York which features Mika Zibanejad, Rick Nash, and Mats Zuccarello. They draw a great matchup against a weak Islanders squad that allowed the second most scoring chances on the road last season among available teams tonight. Also featured on New York's top power play unit, this trio should be very active on the man advantage tonight against an Islanders' penalty kill that has surrendered at least one power play goal in four of their first six games this season. In a game that should play at a fast pace between two poor defensive teams, loading up on the top line for New York could pay major dividends tonight.
