Rishard Matthews Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

WR Robby Anderson doubtful for Week 8

Anderson was reported to have somewhere "between a high-ankle and low-ankle sprain" so the doubtful tag is not surprising. Rookie Sam Darnold will likely be using a 3-WR set of Jermaine Kearse, newly-signed Rishard Matthews, and journeyman Andre Roberts on Sunday, making the Bears D/ST a great option this week as a large home favorite.

Robby Anderson (ankle) logs another DNP on Thursday

Head Coach Todd Bowles says Anderson has somewhere "between a high-ankle and low-ankle sprain" and now looks doubtful for Week 8. Rookie Sam Darnold could be using a 3-WR set of Jermaine Kearse, newly-signed Rishard Matthews, and journeyman Andre Roberts in Chicago on Sunday, making the Bears D/ST a great option this week.

WR Rishard Matthews signs with Jets

Expect the former Titans wideout to immediately see action in 3-WR sets while Quincy Enunwa remains out, though this shouldn't equate to much fantasy relevance on one of the lowest volume passing attacks in the league.

Rishard Matthews Parting Ways with Tennessee

Rishard Matthews told A to Z Sports that he asked the Titans for his release and he is planning on moving on. It is a blindsiding development after Matthews just signed an extension. Matthews played 50% of the snaps this season for the Titans. 65 of his 95 snaps came from the slot position. Taywan Taylor seems to be the likely candidate to take over those slot snaps now.

Corey Davis limited at practice on Thursday.

Davis unexpectedly showed up on the injury report yesterday with a hamstring issue, but said he's feeling good after limited participation today. Assuming he makes it through Friday's practice unscathed Davis should be a nice value this weekend. At $5,100 on DraftKings, he's priced around secondary receiving options like Will Fuller and Pierre Garcon, despite being the No.1 receiver for Tennessee. With the loss of Delanie Walker, Davis should earn significant volume moving forward and is a solid option against Houston as long as Marcus Mariota plays this week.

Team Titans Go

Rishard Matthews has received a contract extension through 2019. A holdout is what could have been at the root of Matthews’s mysterious absence from camp thus far. The presence of a healthy Matthews should put a damper on the Taywan Taylor love that ensued after his 2 TD effort against Tampa Bay this weekend in preseason. Tennessee has a plethora of pass catchers that should each be viewed as weekly boom or bust options in DFS. When ranking these guys for Best Ball purposes, I am sliding Matthews in behind Corey Davis and in a deadlock with Delanie Walker. This group also has Tajae Sharpe, Taywan Taylor and Dion Lewis nipping at their heels for target share. Mariota’s outlook seems brighter while the other pass catchers take a slight bump down with Matthews returning.

Rishard Matthews expected to return this week

After missing the last few weeks with a hamstring injury, Matthews will make his return to the playing field in this week's matchup vs The Cardinals. The team also announced the Delanie Walker is also good to go on Sunday, thus giving Marcus Mariota a full choice of weapons to choose from this week. The return of both players only makes it harder to decipher where targets will go moving forward, and it's worth noting that the Titans passing attack has only eclipsed the 300-yard mark twice in the last nine weeks.

Rishard Matthews expected to play Week 14

Head coach Mike Mularkey believes Matthews (hamstring) will return from a two-game absence this weekend against the Cardinals. The receiver would be 13th in the league in yards per route run (1.91) if he qualified but the lack of plays the team is running will limit his upside. Marcus Mariota threw just 23 times in Week 13 and they've averaged the fifth-fewest passing plays per game this season (31). Fortunately for them, the Cardinals are allowing the seventh-most plays per game this year (65.7) and could provide a little boost to this offense. It's possible Matthews draws Patrick Peterson's shadow coverage though. Heading into Week 13, Peterson had allowed the fewest fantasy points per route defended this year (0.13) and the lowest catch rate (41%, per PFF). If that's the case, it would help Corey Davis.

Rishard Matthews inactive Week 13

It'll be a boost for Corey Davis. The rookie only saw four targets without Matthews in Week 12 which was second on the team but disappointing in what appeared to be a great spot against the Colts. The Titans are running the fifth-fewest passing plays per game (31.7) and the ninth-fewest plays overall (61.5/g), which has limited the upside of the receivers all season. With Matthews out again, Davis should be one of Marcus Mariota's go-to targets but volume may a concern again as the Texans' opponents are running the sixth-fewest plays per game (60.8). Even so, they're giving up a ton of points, the fourth-most in the league (25.9/g), and they're allowing the sixth-most PPR points to WRs this season. It's clearly another positive matchup and if the Titans can get the offense clicking a little better - they're 19th in points scored over the past three weeks (20.3/g) - Davis should be able to produce a good return for his salary. Vegas believes they can, providing them the ninth-highest implied total on the board (24.5 points). Davis will primarily match up with Kevin Johnson, who's allowing the most fantasy points per route defended among CBs playing in Week 13 (0.41, per PFF).

Rishard Matthews will be a game-time decision Week 13

Matthews returned to a limited practice today which was his first since last Thursday when he injured his hamstring. If he's able to play. he'll have a nice spot against the Texans. Davis will primarily match up with Kevin Johnson, who's allowing the most fantasy points per route defended among CBs playing in Week 13 (0.41, per PFF).
