This former starter has thrived in a back-up role this season
Ryan Miller signed with the Anaheim Ducks in the off-season to be the back-up goalie to John Gibson. He has thrived in this reduced role putting up an elite .927 save percentage to go with a respectable 2.42 goals against average and three shutouts to top it off. He is at home to a Dallas Stars team that is in desperation mode trying to make the playoffs, but the Ducks are still -170 favourites so there is plenty of reasons to be confident in Miller tonight.
This goaltender is thriving in a reduced role as a backup
At 37 years old, Ryan Miller just isn't starter material anymore. This is the first season in over a decade that he will not have the bonafide starter's role. Playing behind John Gibson, Miller has really thrived this season statistically. Although his record is just 2-0-4, he has a 2.02 goals against average and a .936 save percentage on a team that ranks dead last in the NHL with a 65.17 CA/60. The Ducks are on the tail-end of a back to back tonight which is obviously not ideal, but I like their spot at home against the Ottawa Senators this evening.
