Field update for The RSM Classic
Henrik Norlander and Kramer Hickok have both tested positive for COVID and will miss this week's RSM Classic. They will be replaced in the field by Ryan Brehm and Rhein Gibson. I would not either player to get added to the full week pricing pool, but we should see them available for round 2 showdown slates. Sam Burns and Bill Haas are the other two names to remove themselves from the field this week.

On Paper, this Course was Built for Mr. Burns... Excellent
Look, this is a new course on the PGA Tour, so we can only take guesses on what type of golfer will fare well this week. However, I see 40 yard wide fairways, little rough, par fives that are only reachable by the longer hitters, and potentially two drive-able par fours. I'm looking for length off the tee, birdie makers, and putters. Burns fits the mold perfectly. He's ranked in the top 10 in this field in strokes gained off the tee, driving distance, and birdie or better percentage. He has gained strokes putting in 10 of his last 11 events on tour and he hasn't missed a cut since February. We get all of this at sub-10% ownership (at least as of Tuesday afternoon). Dollar for dollar, Burns is my favorite play of the week.
Risk/Reward Bounce Back Potential
This pick is definitely not for the faint of heart, but it’s potentially a spot where we can take advantage of recency bias in DFS. Burns bombed as a chalky value play last week, shooting 6-over par in his first round before withdrawing with a back injury. It does not sound like his injury is anything serious, as it was likely a precautionary move once he realized he was extremely unlikely to make the cut. Burns is a talented golfer with plenty of upside who was otherwise playing well, and I like him to get back on track this week on a Texas course with bermudagrass greens. While his stats are still lagging a bit for the year as a whole, he had been turning a corner with four straight top 30 finishes prior to last week. Hopefully he can get the momentum back in a weak field event.
Sam Burns looks to make the most of his opportunity
Former LSU standout and current Web.com Tour player Sam Burns is in this week's field as a sponsors invite. Burns has already made his presence felt in only a handful of professional starts this season. With a win and a second place finish on the Web.com Tour, Burns is in a great spot to earn his way onto the PGA Tour next season. Burns is three for three in PGA Tour cuts made this season including two top 15 finishes. Paired with Tiger Woods on the weekend at this year's Honda Classic, Burns outplayed his elder Woods on Sunday while showcasing his talent and poise. Currently projected at a very low ownership, Burns makes for an interesting GPP pivot play off other players in his same price range.
