The Orioles (6.21 FIP, 5.4 K-BB%) and Nationals (6.13 FIP, 11.7 K-BB%) both have a FIP a full run above any other bullpen over the last 30 days. Unfortunately, Baltimore gets the night off, but the Nationals back rookie Erick Fedde, who has completed six innings just once in seven starts. The Rangers (5.12 FIP, 13.9 K-BB%), Twins (5.01 FIP, 12.6 K) and Royals (5.01 FIP, 9.8 K%) are the other active pens over a five FIP over the last month. The Cardinals (4.95 FIP, 3.8 K-BB%) are close with terrible peripherals. The Rangers are in L.A. behind Mike Minor. The Twins face the Yankees behind Kyle Gibson. The Royals host the White Sox behind Jakob Juinis. The Cardinals host the Pirates. Adam Wainwright gets his first start since May. The St Louis pen should have one of the larger workloads tonight. The Marlins (4.83 FIP, 9.0 K-BB%) are the next bullpen on that list and start rookie Jeff Brigham in just his second major league start.

Despite just four games on the slate tonight (three on the main DraftKings slate), two of the three worst bullpens by FIP over the last month are in action. The Nationals (6.17 FIP, 11.8 K-BB%) may have the best starter on the board though (Stephen Strasburg), if healthy. The Cubs could run up his pitch count to get to that bullpen. They are a very patient offense. The Reds (5.04 FIP, 11.6 K-BB%) have a 6:40 ET start time and are only available on the FanDuel main slate tonight. They are at home, but send Luis Castillo against the Padres, not really an enticing spot for daily fantasy bats outside the park and bullpen.

The Orioles (6.41 FIP, 4.5 K-BB%) are still the worst bullpen in the majors over the last month by far (with Andrew Cashner starting in Seattle), but at least they have company above a six FIP now (Nationals 6.09 FIP, 12.5 K-BB%). In fact each of the three next highest bullpen FIPs over the last month behind the Orioles all have around a league average K-BB%. This is a fly ball and home run thing for the Nationals, Twins (5.21 FIP, 13 K-BB%) and Reds (5.04 FIP, 12.1 K-BB%). For those teams, Tanner Roark takes on the Cardinals, Jake Odorizzi is in Houston, and Homer Bailey is in Pittsburgh. The first of those looks like the only situation to avoid. Those are the only teams above a five FIP, but the next highest bullpen can't say the same about peripherals. The Cardinals (4.75 FIP, 3.9 K-BB%) do have workhorse Miles Mikolas starting in Washington. Once that game gets into the bullpens though, things could get interesting. Jaime Barria is the only other pitcher on the slate averaging five innings or less with more than a few starts. The Angels (4.19 FIP, 11.0 K-BB%) are in Texas tonight.
