Shaun Draughn will start for 49ers Sunday

With Carlos Hyde out for San Francisco's finale, Draughn is expect to get the start at running back. He replaced Hyde last week and tallied a season-high 16 touches. Although he wasn't very efficient on the ground (1.7 ypc), he managed 48 yards on six receptions. Despite limited playing time and losing his number two status over the course of the year, it was his third game with at least five receptions. Unfortunately, he's got a tough opponent this week as the Seahawks are making a visit, but he'll have some tournament appeal on full PPR sites. He projects as our RB2 on DraftKings in terms of points-per-dollar, but he should still be considered a risky option.

Carlos Hyde (knee) ruled out for Week 17

Hyde was diagnosed with a torn MCL after undergoing an MRI on Sunday. Shaun Draughn will likely start next week against the Seahawks with DuJuan Harris working in behind him. Draughn has been pretty ineffective on the ground this season, averaging 2.9 yards per carry, but he's capable as a receiver. He caught six passes for 48 yards against the Rams on Saturday. Depending on his price, he could potentially be a tournament option on full PPR sites, but he's in a tough spot against the Seahawks defense and San Francisco has an implied team total of just 17 points.

Shaun Draughn and Mike Davis listed as co-starters for 49ers

Earlier in the week it looked like Davis would be the starter and lead back, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Davis figures to handle more of the running work while Draughn will come in for most passing downs. It's possible they end up very close to a 50/50 split.

Carlos Hyde OUT for Sunday

As expected, the 49ers have ruled out Carlos Hyde for their game against the Buccaneers this week. Mike Davis and Shaun Drough should split the load in what will be a tough match up with Gerald McCoy back from injury for Tampa Bay. Both are reasonable value options, however, if looking to pivot away from the likes of Jacquizz Rodgers and Mike Gillislee in GPP's.

Carlos Hyde confirms he'll miss Week 7, expects to return Week 8

Fortunately, Hyde doesn't believe his shoulder injury is serious. He'll definitely miss their next game though, leaving Mike Davis in the lead role, with Shaun Draughn coming in for passing down work. Both players cost the minimum across the industry this week. Tampa Bay has allowed five rushing touchdowns over the past three games. Davis is probably worth some exposure in tournaments.

It would be a "stretch" for Carlos Hyde to play this week

49ers Head Coach Chip Kelly does not seem confident that his starting RB will be able to play this week as he told media that it would be a stretch for him to play. That leaves Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn as the two primary backs for the team in their match up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Draughn should get most of the passing down work and is a viable option on PPR sites as the Bucs are 30th in DVOA for RB Pass. It's a bit tougher match up for Mike Davis, who will likely get the early down work as Tampa has traditionally been tougher against the run. We'll keep you updated on the 49ers RB situation heading into this weekend as more news becomes available.

Carlos Hyde has right arm in sling

The 49ers RB suffered a shoulder injury on Sunday but was able to return to the game. He showed up with his right arm in a sling today making his status shaky for this weekend. If he's unable to go, it'd be Shaun Draughn and likely Mike Davis splitting the load against a Tampa Bay team that is much tougher against the run then they are the pass. We'll keep you updated on Hyde's status.

Shaun Draughn ruled out for Sunday

Shaun Draughn will not take the field Sunday against the Lions. With Travis Cadet being cut this past week, the 49ers will roll out a backfield of Kendall Gaskins, newly signed DuJuan Harris and Bruce Miller. Gaskins figures to lead the backfield in touches and is actually an interesting punt play given the match-up, but he's only viable as a GPP dart-throw. Harris was just signed this week and is probably a better runner then Gaskins, but Gaskins figures to benefit the most from Draughn's absence.

Shaun Draughn misses practice, is day-to-day

The 49'ers starting RB missed practice and is considered day-to-day as the team prepares to take on the Detroit Lions. Kendall Gaskins would get the start most likely if Draughn can't go but is not a viable DFS option even at a reduced price tag taking on a Lions team that is middle of the pack in terms of RB DvP (15th). Draughn himself is nothing more than a GPP dart throw as he has come back to earth after a hot start and has only totaled 81 rushing yards and 3 receptions the last two games.

Shaun Draughn's knee injury not serious, questionable for Week 16

Shaun Draughn's knee injury isn't considered serious, but there is still a good chance he ends up sitting out in Week 16. The 49ers did add DuJuan Harris to the roster, but they've also cut Travaris Cadet, so it's tough to gauge how concerned they are in terms of Draughn sitting out against the Lions. Draughn has just 23 total touches over the past two games and isn't a strong DFS target this week even if he suits up. We'll update Draughn's status throughout the week.
