Talor Gooch Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Favorite Value Play of the Slate

Gooch is known as a very boom or bust golfer, but that hasn't really been the case over the last 10 months. During that stretch, he's made 14-of-17 cuts with five top 20 finishes. I don't always go strictly off what my model says, but it's worth noting that I have him ranked 14th for this week's event. For reference, he's the 44th most expensive golfer on DraftKings and the 40th most expensive golfer on FanDuel. His statistics don't exactly leap off the page, but in this field he's ranked in the top 50 in strokes gained off the tee, strokes gained approach, bogey avoidance, birdie or better percentage, and strokes gained putting on bentgrass. Similar to Homa, he didn't play great here last year but he did make the cut. Having experience on the course certainly can't hurt.

Field update for The Rocket Mortgage Classic

With less than 48 hours until the first tee shot of The Rocket Mortgage, there has already been some player movement to report for the week. Martin Piller and Doc Redman join Wes Homan and Austen Truslow as the four Monday qualifiers. Piller has the most experience of the group and can always be considered as a GPP option. Doc Redman is a young player worth keeping an eye on moving forward and will need to play well in the limited chances earned via exemptions and Monday qualifiers. Two more spots in the field have opened up due to the withdrawal of Julian Etulain and Jim Knous earlier today. Talor Gooch and Dominic Bozzeli will take their spots in the field. All new players to the field will have projections up later today.

Fifteen minutes to roster lock and no major news to report

With a little over fifteen minutes until the roster lock, it’s quiet on the news front. Outside of Talor Gooch and Charl Schwartzel withdrawing earlier in the week, there has been no player movement to report. Weather looks to be pretty much perfect for the week, so there is no need to stack a tee time wave in order to gain an advantage. ResultsDB will be up and running within 10 minutes of roster lock. Make sure to check out how your lineups stack up against the field.

Talor Gooch is no longer in the field

Promising PGA Tour rookie and potential value play Talor Gooch has withdrawn from The Arnold Palmer Invitational with a thumb injury. Hopefully the injury will not keep Gooch out of action too long, but if you had him in your player pool for the week, please remove him now. Gooch has been replaced by Chris Stroud.

Talor Gooch looks to bounce back from a missed cut

In a way, you could almost see a missed cut coming from Talor Gooch last week. After earning his way into more events via excellent early season play, Gooch narrowly missed playing the weekend in Phoneix. For a player who knew that tour starts would be hard to come by, Gooch now has the luxury of playing in more events this year and will probably have to adjust his goals for the season. Currently ranked inside the top 40 in the FedEx Cup race, Gooch is the type of player who we can look to talent in terms of value for the week. The format of this tournament really favors birdie makers, and Gooch has shown more than enough upside to pay off his price for the week. Some might get off Gooch after last week, but playing in his second Pro-Am the combination of his early hot form and the value in price makes this a great week to jump back on Gooch.

Talor Gooch continues to make the most of his opportunities

Sometimes the hardest part about making it on The PGA Tour is actually gaining a spot to play. For former Oklahoma State standout Talor Gooch the ability to get on tour and then play in events can be a bigger struggle than most of us realize. From his conditional status starts would be hard to come by, so much that Gooch had to Monday qualify into the Sony Open. Gooch did not let a missed cut damper his spirits and was able to play well enough in his next start at The Dessert Classic to earn a start in The Farmers. Fast forward to this week and Gooch is in the field again via a top ten at The Farmers. Currently ranked inside the top 30 in The FedEx Cup race, Gooch is working his way into earning a full-time role on the PGA Tour. Playing for his third week in a row due to an excellent finish from the previous start, Gooch is clearly a hot golfer worth targeting in GPP's for the week. Over his last two starts, Gooch has gained 7.5 shots tee to green which is a very useful trend to pay attention to at TPC Scottsdale.
