Tyler Eifert Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Tyler Eifert active today
Tyler Eifert is active today and should work as the Jaguars' top TE. He has been consistently getting targets this season, but still doesn't rate as a particularly strong play.
Tyler Eifert (neck) officially ruled out for Sunday
Eifert didn't participate in practice at all this week, and he's officially been ruled out of Sunday's Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a neck injury he aggravated during the loss to the Detroit Lions last Sunday afternoon. Following Eifert's exit, James O'Shaughnessy took over as the primary pass-catching tight end for Jacksonville, but he was targeted just once by quarterback Gardner Minshew despite running 37 routes on passing downs. However, it's certainly possible O'Shaughnessy is factored more into the game plan by the coaching staff with a full week of preparation, making him an intriguing punt option at the tight end position in daily fantasy formats this upcoming weekend.
Tyler Eifert is active Sunday
Tyler Eifert is active after being listed as questionable this week. He is clearly the top TE for the Jaguars, getting more targets while running significantly more routes than TE James O'Shaughnessy each week.
Drew Sample (Ankle) Ruled Out for Sunday
Sample will miss his fourth straight game Sunday. Eifert remains the top TE for the Bengals, with C.J. Uzomah getting the remaining TE targets.
Andy Dalton Will Start for Bengals
Andy Dalton will return as the Bengals' starter this week vs the Jets, ending the Ryan Finley trial run. The Bengals passed for 123.5 fewer yards per game with Finley as the starter, so this news is a boost for the Bengals' receivers.
A.J. Green (Ankle), Drew Sample (Ankle) Ruled Out Sunday
Green and Sample were both ruled out for Sunday by the Bengals. Green appears unlikely to play this season, yet the Bengals refuse to put him on IR. Sample has only received 6 targets on the season, so his absence won't have a significant impact on the other TEs.
Drew Sample (Ankle) Ruled Out Sunday
Sample has been ruled out Sunday. He is not heavily involved in the passing game, and therefore Eifert and Uzomah are not significantly impacted.
John Ross (Shoulder) Expected to Miss Multiple Games
John Ross is expected to miss multiple weeks to a month with a shoulder injury suffered Monday night of Week 4. Ross was having a breakout season despite the Bengals being 0-4, with 328 yards and 3 touchdowns through 4 games. His 20.4 yards per catch are 4th in the NFL, and he had formed a strong duo with Tyler Boyd while A.J. Green has been out with his injury. Both Auden Tate and Tyler Eifert could be in line for more targets with Ross out.
Bengals place Tyler Eifert on injured reserve
The Bengals placed Tyler Eifert on injured reserve today after he suffered a gruesome lower-leg injury this past weekend. It'll set up CJ Uzomah to get more work as a receiving TE and Tyler Kroft's snaps should also rise, but Uzomah has more pass-catching upside between the two and he'd already secured somewhat of a valuable role in the red-zone with Eifert healthy. Uzomah is squarely on the GPP radar if you are looking to punt the TE spot.
Tyler Eifert will undergo season-ending back surgery
Adam Schefter reports the tight end has opted for surgery to repair his injured back, ending his season. Tyler Kroft will continue to serve as the Bengals starting tight end. He's caught at least three passes in each of the past three games without Eifert, including a two-touchdown performance against the Browns. Kroft will continue to be a matchup-dependent fantasy option that doesn't seem to offer much upside outside of the premier spots. The Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bengals' next opponent following their Week 6 bye, don't appear to be one of those defenses as they rank third in TE DVOA and have allowed the eighth-fewest PPR points per game to the position (10.78). Quarterback Andy Dalton has averaged 0.3 fewer touchdowns per game without Eifert (1.4) and 26 fewer yards (229) over the course of his career. Pittsburgh has had some excellent secondary play this season, helping them achieve their third-place spot in pass DVOA (per FO); Week 7 doesn't look like a good time to target Dalton.
