HOU QB Tyrod Taylor will start Sunday
Tyrod Taylor will start Sunday against the Miami Dolphins after returning from a hamstring injury. Taylor will offer a little more consistency than rookie Davis Mills but this is still a below average team lacking offensive weapons. Brandin Cooks remains the one reliable DFS producer and he should see a slight boost in production with Taylor throwing him the ball. Cooks will continue to be the only Texans player to consider in most DFS formats and this will likely be the case for the rest of the year. Taylor will be a high floor low ceiling cheaper option at quarterback but in most formats higher upside options are available.

As expected both Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) and Nico Collins (groin) have officially been placed on the IR by the Texans. This means Davis Mills will likely start for Houston the next three weeks including this Thursday against the Carolina Panthers. Brandin Cooks will be the Texans' number one pass catcher while the debuting Anthony Miller should take over the slot role as Danny Amendola is supposed to unavailable to play this week. Mark Ingram should lead the backfield in what looks to be a tough matchup for the Texans with so many key pieces missing on offense.

As expected Davis Mills will start for the Texans on Thursday against the Carolina Panthers after Tyrod Taylor suffered a hamstring injury against the Browns on Sunday. Taylor is expected to be out multiple weeks and Jeff Driskel will likely serve as Mills' backup. Anthony Miller who has not been active the last two weeks will make his Texans' debut on Thursday while Nico Collins has been officially ruled out and Danny Amendola is not expected to play. The Texans will also likely elevate another wide receiver from their practice squad with the most likely candidates being Jordan Veasy and Chris Moore. Brandin Cooks should be firmly entrenched as Mills' number one option followed by Chris Conley and Miller as well as the tight ends Pharaoh Brown and Jordan Akins.
Tyrod Taylor 2021 Fantasy Outlook
Per RotoGrinders NFL player projections, Tyrod Taylor is expected to be the fantasy QB26. He's being drafted on Underdog Fantasy as QB35 at pick 274, compared to his RotoGrinders ranking of 199 as of July. We currently expect 3,896 passing yards (Rank 26) and 20 passing touchdowns (Rank 29) during the 17 week fantasy season. We also expect 221 yards rushing (Rank 11) with a 15% share of team rush attempts.
Ladies and gentlemen, your starting quarterback for this year's Houston Texans...Tyrod Taylor? Well, depending on what happens to Deshaun Watson from a trade (and legal) standpoint, that very well could be the case. And as you can see, Taylor's current ADP is outside of the top 32. So I don't think it's a terrible idea to take a proactive approach here and operate under the assumption that Deshaun Watson has already played in his last snap as quarterback for the Houston Texans. Whether or not you are of the belief that Taylor is a worthy candidate to be a starting NFL quarterback is largely irrelevant, because you'd probably have to agree that he can still be a fantasy football asset. The fact that we have him as QB26--with the kind of skill position players that Houston currently has--is a testament to just that.
Mike Williams Reportedly Likely to Play
Mike Williams is now reportedly likely to play Week 1, although the team will monitor him pregame before making a final decision. This news is a direct contradiction of what was reported last night, but has been confirmed by multiple sources. Even if active, there has to be some concern about his ability to be productive with this injury, and a limited snap count seems likely. Williams playing would limit the upside for the lower options in the Chargers' offense, such as Jalen Guyton and Joe Reed.

Tyrod Taylor is expected to clear concussion protocol this week in advance of next weekend's matchup against the Raiders. While it is hard to imagine the the Browns not starting Baker Mayfield after he lead them to a second-half comeback and their first win in 635 days, this is Hue Jackson, so we may have to wait and see.
