Redskins Place TE Vernon Davis (Concussion) on IR
With Davis on IR, Jeremy Sprinkle will continue to operate as the Redskins' top tight end for the rest of the season.
Vernon Davis (Concussion) is Being Placed on Injured Reserve
Davis has been out since Week 4 with a concussion and the Redskins decided to shut him down for the year. He started the season with an incredible highlight reel 48-yard TD catch and run Week 1, but gained just 75 additional yards outside of that play in 4 games. Jeremy Sprinkle will continue as the Redskins' top TE.
Adrian Peterson (Toe) Does Not Practice; Vernon Davis (Concussion), Paul Richardson (Hamstring) Limited Wednesday
Coach Callahan had said Peterson was getting a rest day, although he is officially listed with a toe injury. Davis has been out since Week 4, so his limited designation is not a positive sign for his status this week. Richardson was out last week and his status is not known yet.

Richardson will miss his first game of the season, while Davis will miss his 6th straight game. Jeremy Sprinkle remains the top TE, while Richardson's 4-5 targets per game should provide a modest boost to the remaining Redskins' receivers.
Vernon Davis Remains in Concussion Protocol; Chris Thompson (Toe) Week-to-Week
Both Vernon Davis and Chris Thompson's extended absences could continue for at least one more week. Sprinkle will continue to see more targets if Davis is out, while Guice is returning from IR and would fill some of Thompson's role at RB, in particular as a receiving back.
Chris Thompson (Toe), Vernon Davis (Concussion) Out Sunday; Adrian Peterson (Ankle) Will Play
Thompson and Davis have both been ruled out Sunday. Peterson was on the injury report to start the week, but does not carry any injury designation into the weekend. He may be leaned on more this week as the Redskins switch to rookie QB Dwayne Haskins against the Bills. Peterson could also face more players in the box, making it more difficult to do anything with his touches.
Vernon Davis (Concussion), Case Keenum (Concussion) Limited in Practice Wednesday
Davis remains limited and has missed the last four games. Keenum was knocked out of last week's game with his concussion. Both players still need to clear the concussion protocol in order to play.

Both Davis and Thompson have been ruled out for the Redskins Thursday night. Wendell Smallwood will be the backup RB, while Jeremy Sprinkle will be the starting TE. Note that Adrian Peterson is questionable for Thursday, so Smallwood may get the chance to start.
