Wendell Smallwood has been elevated from the practice squad, while Antonio Gandy-Golden has been released ahead of Washington's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. Smallwood is expected to serve as the third running back behind Jaret Patterson and Jonathan Williams this weekend and will likely not see enough work to be considered in DFS contests. Patterson will be one of the better value options on the slate and can be considered in most formats. Gandy-Golden has been a healthy scratch for most of this year so his release is not surprising and should have no DFS ramifications.

Wendell Smallwood has been activated off the COVID list and elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Smallwood is expected to serve as the third back behind Antonio Gibson (questionable) and Jaret Patterson and would likely not be DFS relevant in that scenario. If Gibson were to be ruled out however Patterson would be the lead back with Smallwood playing a complimentary role akin to J.D. McKissic. Joey Slye has been activated off IR to the 53-man roster so Washington currently has two kickers on their roster, Slye and Brian Johnson. A roster move will likely be made or one of the kickers will be listed inactive prior to Sunday Night Football kicking off.

As expected following J.D. McKissic being ruled out yesterday, Wendell Smallwood has been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. McKissic's absence will likely lead to more work for Antonio Gibson and Jaret Patterson while HC Ron Rivera also mentioned the possibility of Wendell Smallwood playing a role on third downs to help supplement the loss of McKissic in the passing game. Gibson is likely to be the biggest beneficiary and should be considered in most lineups as this could be a breakout week for him. It sounds like Smallwood will play a role this weekend but not likely large enough of one to be considered in DFS contests.

Guice's season is over, as the Redskins are placing him on injured reserve. This move should boost Adrian Peterson's carries the most of the Redskins' RBs.

Peterson and Thompson both did not practice Thursday, making two straight missed practices for each player. Wendell Smallwood could be in for more touches if either Peterson or Thompson are out.

Peterson is active tonight for the Redskins. There is some risk he won't be able to handle a normal workload, meaning Wendell Smallwood or Craig Reynolds could see more touches than usual. The Redskins are also significant underdogs, so they could be forced away from the run game early.

Peterson and Sims are both considered questionable for Thursday night. Both were able to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday and will likely be game-time decisions. Wendell Smallwood would get a big boost if Peterson was out, while Sims is already near the bottom of the WR depth chart.

Both Davis and Thompson have been ruled out for the Redskins Thursday night. Wendell Smallwood will be the backup RB, while Jeremy Sprinkle will be the starting TE. Note that Adrian Peterson is questionable for Thursday, so Smallwood may get the chance to start.

Foles was able to participate fully in Thursday's practice after being limited in Wednesday's session due to bruised ribs, while Wendell Smallwood and Mike Wallace were limited for a second straight day because of hand and ankle injuries, respectively. This news all but confirms head coach Doug Pederson's statements that Foles was "feeling good" and would start in Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears on Wild Card weekend. The Bears have been significantly more stingy versus the run this season, ranking second in rush DVOA, so the Eagles should be expected to attack Chicago through the air, setting up Foles for a significant volume floor in terms of pass attempts.
