Willie Reed Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Hassan Whiteside (hand) listed as probable for Thursday's game against Toronto
Whiteside received 13 stitches due to a hand injury he suffered last night. The team is currently listing him as probable and he mentioned that he wanted to play against the Raptors. If Whiteside ends up missing Thursday's game, Willie Reed would start and instantly become an elite value play. Stay tuned for more updates after the Heat go through their morning shootaround.
Willie Reed (personal) available off the bench tonight
Reed will be available to play tonight after he missed yesterday's practice due to personal reasons. The big man has not played over 20 minutes in 8 straight game sand is not a viable DFS option tonight. His availability brings Whiteside's upside down just a tad bit because he won't have to play max minutes. Whiteside is still a strong play against the Timberwolves tonight.
Willie Reed (right ankle bursitis) available off the bench tonight
Reed will available to play off the bench in tonight's game against the Orlando Magic after previously being listed as questionable on the Heat's injury report with right ankle bursitis. Reed went through Friday's shootaround without any limitations, but it does look unlikely that he will see his normal allotment of minutes if he plays this evening. Reed clearly isn't a viable option with Miami virtually fully healthy but his potential presence in the rotation certainly removes Okaro White from any possible punt considerations.
Willie Reed takes part in team shootaround for Miami this morning
The Heat back up big man has missed the last two games but looks likely to play tonight after taking part in the team shootaround. We'll update his status later today when more news becomes available.
Miami Heat injury report for Friday's game
Dion Waiters and Willie Reed are both questionable for Miami for their Friday game. Hassan Whiteside missed practice today but he is probable as is Rodney McGruder who left the teams last game early. We'll update you tomorrow with any updates we get on this quartet.
Willie Reed remains OUT for Miami
Reed is making progress but he's not quite ready to see the court yet and he'll miss his second straight game. He appears doubtful to play in the teams next game on Friday as well. Hassan Whiteside and James Johnson both see a few extra minutes of playing time as a result of Reed's absence.
Willie Reed (right ankle bursitis) questionable for Wednesday
Reed missed his first game last night due to an ankle issue and is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game Philadelphia. With Reed out of the lineup, Hassan Whiteside logged the most minutes in two months and James Johnson was used as the backup center. Whiteside responded with 19 points and 19 rebounds but that much was expected from him at his salary levels. Whiteside will continue to be a strong option on Wednesday night and will need to pick up the defensive stats to really exceed value. Johnson's shot went missing on Monday but he'll be a prime bounce back candidate against the Sixers.
Willie Reed (ankle) won't travel with team to Dallas, ruled out for Monday
Reed is dealing with ankle bursitis and the team decided to keep him in Miami to rehab the injury. Reed is averaging 14.7 minutes per game this season, so his absence won't make a huge difference - our CourtIQ tool confirms Miami's usage rates and fantasy production remains consistent with him off the floor. James Johnson, Udonis Haslem, and Okaro White could all pick up some of Reed's playing time. James Johnson would be the one to target, he's averaged 30.4 FanDuel points over his past 13 games. We should get an update on Reed's status on Tuesday.
Willie Reed confirmed as the starter in place of Hassan Whiteside
Reed will draw the start at center in tonight's game against the Chicago Bulls for the injured Hassan Whiteside. He will start alongside Luke Babbitt and Rodney McGruder in the Heat frontcourt. Reed is one of the top value options on Friday's slate, and for good reason, as he has performed extremely well for the most part in his previous four starts with Whiteside sidelined due to injuries.
Hassan Whiteside OUT tonight for Miami
After admitting he should not have played on Wednesday night due to a ankle injury, the Heat center will take the night off tonight in the hopes that a little time off will help his injury heal. Willie Reed instantly becomes the chalk option at center after nearly averaging a double-double the last four games he's started when Whiteside has been out. Dating back to December 1st, Reed has seen 20+ minutes of court time in five games, and outside of one contest he's exceeded salary-based expectations each time around. Reed has posted at least 40 FPs in the only two games this year where he's cleared 30 minutes of court time, and that is a real possibility tonight against a big Bulls team with Whiteside on the shelf. He's priced around the minimum on DFS sites and should be targeted confidently in any format this evening.
