betPARX Sportsbook Promo Code and Sports Betting Review – 2024
Parx officially became the second online sportsbook in Pennsylvania when it launched on June 27th, 2019. Parx is able to operate under its own license and is fully legal and regulated by the PGCB.
Parx has always been a popular sportsbook among Pennsylvania bettors, but the operator may have become even more popular after rebranding to betPARX and introducing a totally refreshed app and website in March 2022.
BetPARX (formerly Parx) has consistently been the top-earning casino in Pennsylvania since table games went live back in 2010, and they have successfully parlayed that success into the virtual gaming market as well.
The company expanded across the river to New Jersey in 2020 through its partnership with Freehold Raceway. Overall the company is a regional success that seems content to focus on two states and grow its brand there rather than try to compete across the country. This could be a wise strategy as sports betting brands proliferate (and lose money) nationwide.
BetPARX has teamed up with software company Playtech to design their sportsbook app and has tapped the very popular Kambi, who also powers DraftKings and BetRivers, for pricing and risk.
What We Like About betPARX
- Brand Recognition/Marketing: betPARX is already the number one casino in Pennsylvania despite being positioned in a very competitive Philadelphia area market. With bringing in the highest revenue comes extra money to throw around on promotions and advertising.
- Experience: betPARX is owned by Greenwood Gaming which was founded by a group of UK sportsbook executives. They have also enlisted the help of Playtech and Kambi, two of the most reputable names in online gaming.
- Sportsbook/Online Casino: When you sign up using the casino bonus code, you can earn a Casino Bonus in your first 24 hours. What a deal!
- Local company: betPARX is owned by Greenwood Gaming, a Pennsylvania-based company. It’s not part of some huge global conglomerate. By using betPARX, you’re keeping your money in PA and NJ.
Land-Based Sportsbooks
Parx Casino
After making do with a temporary sportsbook for the first six months, Parx opened the door to their brand new state-of-the-art $10 million retail sportsbook in August 2019.
The Parx sportsbook features a massive 156-foot-long LED screen that can show up to 36 games at once, a full-service bar, 18 self-service kiosks, several betting windows, almost 200 seats, and three VIP areas all spanning across 7400 square feet of space.
South Philadelphia Turf Club
Conveniently located in the middle of all the Philadelphia sports action, the Turf Club also opened their own live betPARX branded sportsbook just two weeks after the Parx Casino location opened. A $1 million dollar facelift prepared the off-track parlor for a taste of live sports wagers. The list of upgrades includes adding seven windows and 13 self-serve kiosks.
Freehold Raceway
betPARX has a retail sportsbook in New Jersey at Freehold Raceway, which is right smack in the middle of the state about halfway between Trenton and Asbury Park. It’s not the fanciest spot, but the retail sportsbook is there for in-person wagering and cash deposits and withdrawals.
Online and Mobile Sports Betting
From the beginning, betPARX made it clear that they wanted to be the number one online sportsbook, casino, and poker site in PA and NJ. They aren’t quite the #1 sportsbook in the states as measured by revenue (FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM have consistently been the favorites among PA and NJ bettors), but betPARX has done relatively well as a hometown sportsbook.
Online and mobile wagering is where casinos can be truly innovative. From in-game betting to last-minute wagers from your couch, the ability to have customers on the go has been a huge boost, with over 80% of wagers coming online. BetPARX has partnered with Kambi for their online and mobile sports betting and built a high-quality, easy-to-use mobile product.
Available Platforms
Desktop
BetPARX online sportsbook is available via your desktop or mac computer via any of the popular browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge and Firefox. The desktop platform makes it easy to find the market you are looking for by listing all available sports on the left-hand side, including a quick link to all live betting options. Popular bets and live games are also listed directly in the middle of the homepage so you can just jump right in.
Once you find the bet you want to place, simply click on it and it will populate the bet slip on the right side of the screen. Enter the amount you would like to wager and it will automatically calculate the potential payout. If you are happy with the bet, just click Place Bet.
Mobile App
BetPARX is available via mobile apps for both iOS and Android-powered devices and is basically a shrunken-down version of the desktop sportsbook. The mobile apps utilizes menus at the bottom of the page in order to keep it free from clutter and does a great job making everything easily accessible.
The iOS version of the app can be found in the Apple App Store and the Android version can be downloaded easily from the Google Play store. You can sign up, access all banking options, and place bets directly on the app, just as you do on the desktop.

BetPARX Path to Sports Betting
Even before the Supreme Court of the United States decided that prohibiting states from legalizing sports betting was unconstitutional, Pennsylvania was working on a huge expansive gaming bill. Lawmakers in the Keystone state included an option in the new gaming framework for the states casinos to open sportsbooks should it become legal. Once PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) was overturned, they wasted no time accepting applications.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, though. There are some concerns about Pennsylvania’s $10 million licensing fee and overall 41% tax on profits. To put this in perspective, to get a license in New Jersey it costs $100,000 for the license, and about 25% of profits go to the state. Much more reasonable and manageable for sports betting operators in New Jersey.
While betPARX initially waffled at the prospect of offering online sports betting in Pennsylvania, it seems as though they have embraced the new gaming expansion and have become a major player in both realms. BetPARX was one of the first to market, which gave them a leg up on the competition. Being the most prosperous casino in Pennsylvania, having a large existing customer base, and partnering with some of the biggest names in sports betting has positioned betPARX to continue to be one of the market leaders in PA and NJ, which have become two of the largest sports betting markets in the US.
