Does BetMGM Void Your Prop Bet if a Player Doesn't Play?

Injuries or players missing a game due to personal reasons are unavoidable in sports. It’s rare for a player to play every game in a season, and there are many instances where you won’t know if they’re playing or not until the start of a game. Players can also get hurt in the middle of games, which causes them to not finish the contest.

But how does that relate to your experience on BetMGM? I’m here to answer that question and explain what happens to your bet if a player you wagered on doesn’t play or leaves the game midway through due to injury.

What happens on BetMGM if a player gets hurt before the game?

If you make a straight bet on a player prop before a game and they end up not playing, your wager will be canceled. If a player is ruled out on a team’s injury report leading into a game, you won’t be able to bet on them, as BetMGM won’t have any player prop bets available for them.

But if your player gets ruled out before a game starts and you already wagered on them, your wager will be voided.

Now if your wager isn’t a straight bet and is a leg in a parlay, just that leg of your parlay will be voided. Because your parlay has one less leg, your potential payout will be smaller as a result of the odds changing.

What happens on BetMGM if a player gets hurt during a game?

In comparison, the leg of your parlay or straight bet containing a player who gets hurt during a game won’t be voided. So if you have a same game parlay including an NBA player and they suffer an injury in the third quarter for example, your parlay will result in a loss because that leg isn’t voided.

Admittedly, this isn’t user-friendly, but it’s BetMGM’s call. There are times when they go back on this however and will void your wager or leg under certain circumstances.

Note that each sport may have some differences in rules dictating whether a player played or not, like if a player wasn’t ruled inactive before a game but dressed in uniform and sat on the bench the whole time.
