Lions vs. 49ers Same Game Parlay Picks for Today

Purdy of the 49ers

Entering 2024, ESPN would have been ecstatic about the Lions playing the 49ers as the last game of the Monday Night Football season. Unfortunately, the Lions and the 49ers will play in a completely meaningless football game. DraftKings Sportsbook features the Lions as 3.5-point road favorites in a game that doesn’t matter for each team. Let’s break down the playoff scenarios, relevant statistics, and betting odds for the last Monday night game of 2024.

Lions vs. 49ers Same Game Parlay Preview

The Lions are road favorites without a purpose. Detroit’s primary concern should be staying healthy ahead of a pivotal Week 18 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Vikings. The winner of that game will win the NFC North and the top seed in the NFC playoffs — getting a bye during Wild Card weekend. Despite all of this and a rash of injuries over the last month, Dan Campbell maintains that they will play this game to win. I am skeptical but Campbell has developed a culture of working hard and being gritty that has resonated in his locker room.

The 49ers were eliminated from playoff contention and will be just as motivated to win as they were last weekend. Brock Purdy and company play out the string for pride as a handful of players work hard to produce good film for status in 2025. For the 49ers, Trent Williams and Aaron Banks will not play. RT Colton McKivitz is questionable to play. The Niners could be down three starting linemen. Isaac Guerendo will play, but Dre Greenlaw is out for the rest of the season.

The Lions will be without Kalif Raymond and David Montgomery. Montgomery hopes to get back for part of the playoff run. Raymond will leave a hole in the wide receiver corps and the return game. Detroit has the top-ranked scoring offense in the NFL and hasn’t slowed down despite the injuries. As such, the implied game total is 50.5 points. The 49ers defense has a full plate.

Conversely, the Lions defense is getting gashed each week. While Detroit blew out the Bears and allowed only 17 points, Detroit averaged 32 points allowed on defense over their last 3 weeks. The 49ers struggle but still possess the playmakers to put points on the board. If Purdy can have time in the pocket, he should find Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Jauan Jennings open in the secondary. This game has all the makings of a back-and-forth affair.

Continuing with defensive inefficiency, the Lions rank 2nd-worst in yards allowed to wide receivers with a game to play. By the end of Monday Night Football, Detroit will likely be ranked worst in the league in this category. Samuel, Jennings, and even Ricky Pearsall will be considerations for prop picks for tonight’s same game parlay.

Will the game stay close enough to keep the Lions on the field? Will Dan Campbell even sit his players if they are blowing the 49ers out? We have plenty of question marks and intrigue for a game that doesn’t matter. Let’s try to lock in some guarantees for tonight’s same game parlay.

Same Game Parlay Picks for Lions vs. 49ers

Brock Purdy 250+ Passing Yards

Purdy should play this entire football game, barring a complete blowout. There is no reason for Purdy to sit if he has not sat up to this point. The only issue for Purdy will be his offensive line. Can Purdy get time?

Well, Purdy is working against one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL over the last month. The Lions offense will push San Francisco. The Niners will need to throw to keep up and shouldn’t lean on Guerendo all game.

Detroit has a sub-6% sack rate this season and only 3.09% in the last 3 games. Without Aidan Hutchinson and additional defensive pieces, the Lions are not getting pressure. Purdy should be able to get throws off. For this game to go over, Purdy needs to hit this prop.

Jauan Jennings 60+ Receiving Yards

Now, Jennings is another player who will definitely play this entire football game, barring a huge blowout. Jennings continues to see target volume, and even with Samuel playing better, Jennings should thrive in a great matchup.

Jennings has been great for San Francisco in 2024 but isn’t a key component for this team going forward. Brandon Aiyuk will be back, and Samuel still must be sorted out. Jennings is playing hard for potential roles elsewhere.

Our next prop includes another reason why Jennings is fully auditioning for his role on this team or elsewhere.

Ricky Pearsall 25+ Receiving Yards

Finally, Pearsall was drafted to become a key component of the 49ers offense. Pearsall recovered from the horrifying situation and carved out a complementary role in 2024. Tonight’s game is a great opportunity for Pearsall to be featured.

Pearsall is script-proof. He will play the entire game. He has back-to-back games with 4 targets. Those targets are significantly more valuable tonight against Detroit.

Pearsall goes over and hopefully hits our San Francisco SGP. Additionally, I like Purdy for 2+ touchdown passes if you want to add another leg.
