NFL DFS Showdown Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday Night Football (Texans vs. Jets)

DRAFTKINGS

Who are your three favorite Captains, ranked in order?

Notorious: Joe Mixon, Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson
headChopper: Tank Dell, Joe Mixon, Garrett Wilson
ncorfield8k: Tank Dell, Davante Adams, C.J. Stroud
Davis Mattek: Joe Mixon, Breece Hall, C.J. Stroud

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Notorious: I’ll be playing small-field tournaments. My plan of attack is to be overweight on both running backs. Joe Mixon has topped 25 carries in 3 of 5 games this season, while Breece Hall has played on over 80% of the snaps in the last 3 games. I will also make a rule to use a max of 1 with Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams.

headChopper: I’ll play 20 lineups in large-field contests. My Captains will be varied—I won’t lock into just 1 or 2 but will spread them out. I’ll be overweight on Tank Dell in the Captain spot though, for sure. On DraftKings, I’ll take some stabs in the FLEX with John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson. On FanDuel, I like to keep a tight core of players, and I’ll be overweight on Davante Adams in the MVP spot because his game suits their scoring well.

ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments – I plan to take a significantly underweight stance on Joe Mixon in the FLEX. I’ll hedge with some Mixon Captain lineups, but overall, I won’t have a lot of Mixon unless his projected ownership comes down significantly by lock. I’ll be playing some of each of the tertiary Texans receivers (Xavier Hutchinson, John Metchie, and Tank Dell) and letting projected ownership dictate how much I get of each, as I think all should have a role and it’s tough to guess who will have the best role with Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs both out.

Davis Mattek: This is a great large-field tournament slate due to the plethora of options in the Texans passing game. That will be my strategy to gain an edge over the field. I will be particularly overweight on John Metchie and Cade Stover. Compared to Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson, who struggle to earn volume, I expect Metchie and Stover to be less than 10-15% owned in total. There’s also an angle with Braelon Allen where you can pair him with Breece Hall to differentiate from the field, playing for a Houston offensive collapse without Diggs.
