2024 Shriners Children's Open Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Shriners Children’s Open outside of Las Vegas, and we’ll see significant winds that will impact the tournament.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Shriners Children’s Open Weather Forecast

Thursday, October 17th

Winds start nice and light (5-10 mph), but by the afternoon, we should see sustained winds 15-20 mph with gusts around 30 mph.

Friday, October 18th

Windy start, with sustained winds 20-25 mph and gusts around 35 mph. It will taper off a bit in the late afternoon, but even then, winds are likely 15-20 mph with stronger gusts.

Saturday, October 19th

Winds will still be a bit elevated early (10-15 mph with stronger gusts) and should gradually subside through the afternoon.

Sunday, October 20th

Closing things out with a great weather day. Light winds and no issues.

Shriners Children’s Open Weather Thoughts

I think we’ve got a pretty clear edge to be had in the first couple of days. The earlier you golf on Thursday, the better off you are. The later you golf on Friday, the better off you are. Therefore, I am in strong favor of Thursday-AM / Friday-PM DFS lineups and sports bets, as you’ll be getting the best of the weather on both days.
