Tiger Woods Odds, Props, Promos, and Best Bets for the Memorial

The Memorial Tournament tees off Thursday, and there’s no bigger story than Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf. Online sports betting sites are planning accordingly, posting props, boosted odds, and other Tiger-related promotions.

Oddsmakers opened Tiger +2800 to win the Memorial at most U.S. sportsbooks on Monday. Predictably, money quickly flooded in golf’s most beloved player. Pat Mayo reported that 21% of DraftKings’ handle and 15% of bets were on Woods as of Tuesday morning. Even so, it’s not too late to arrive to the party; golf bettors can still bet on Woods 28-1 at FOX Bet.

Woods wasn’t initially in my Memorial Tournament Golf Betting Picks on Monday, but it didn’t take 24 hours before the FOMO became overwhelming. It doesn’t hurt that 28-1 on Tiger Woods is an appealing price, especially at Jack’s Place.

The fact that Woods hasn’t played in a PGA Tour event since the Genesis Invitational in February is the main case for skepticism. There was optimism his return would come a few weeks ago on the East Coast but Tiger declined, leaving people wondering if there were lingering back issues. Though the long absence may cause concern, Woods looked just fine during his charity match against Mickelson and Brady. If Tiger wasn’t ready to win, he wouldn’t be in the field this week at Muirfield Village. So after sleeping on it, I made Tiger a late addition to this week’s golf betting card.

Golf outrights aside, there’s still plenty of action to be had on Tiger whether you, like me, want to hop on the bandwagon or believe there will be just enough rust in Tiger’s game to take a bold stance against the five-time Memorial winner.

For those trying to join Team Tiger, there’s a plethora of betting promotions across the online sports betting industry of which you should take advantage. Let’s start with the odds boosts.

DraftKings Sportsbook

Regardless of how you feel about Tiger’s chance to win at the Memorial, you want to get in on this promotion. Be sure to Opt-In at the top of DraftKings Sportsbook’s homepage. DraftKings has a few more odds boosts, but nothing as worth your time as the ones above.

At first glance, it’s the Tiger-McIlroy birdies bet that interests me most. However don’t be fooled into thinking there’s much value if any at all. Presuming they tee off on hole no. 1, birdies come roughly one in every 6.5 attempts based on historical numbers; if it’s hole no. 10, you’ll see birdies come at a rate of 11%, or one in every eight tries. Of course, Tiger and Rory aren’t your average golfers but +2250 is still too short to take seriously. If you’re betting on this, know you’re doing it for a short stint of entertainment and hope to luck into a nice payday.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel has the same $50 limit on this bet as DraftKings. While not quite as profitable, it’s still more than worthy of our attention.

This is another bet worth getting behind. McIlroy has struggled with his irons has of late, and Koepka’s form, though it looked better on Friday, is certainly in question. Other than a top-10 at the Heritage, Koepka has had little success this year. That doesn’t surprise everyone, as Koepka typically saves his best for the biggest tournaments. The Memorial isn’t a major, but this year, following the cancellation of The Players Championship, it’s arguably the next closest thing.

Another $50 limit, this price may not be as enticing if you have any trepidation about Woods’ form. But if you think he’s ready like I do, then by all means sign up at PointsBet and go for it.

FOX Bet

Woods hit 42-of-56 fairways at Muirfield in 2019, good for 75%. In 2018, he went 40-of-56 (71.5%).
