This is a really important part of the game theory of LoL and eSports in general. There are no other DFS sports – MLB, NFL, NBA, MMA, PGA, NASCAR, etc… — that have a theoretical unlimited time frame. Technically, MLB games could go into extra innings forever, but we know how often that happens and there isn’t any way to predict it.

In LoL, some teams have specific strategies of lengthening matches or some matches will naturally be longer because the two teams are evenly matched. The goal of the game is destroy the opponent’s nexus – however, teams often will spend a lot of time mining and killing dragons and barons before they even attempt to do so. Time is crucial in LoL DraftKings contests.
