Happy Friday! We close out the week with a big ole’ 13-game slate that features a lot of good pitching, and the Mariners are traveling to Coors Field to highlight the offensive side. As I dig through the slate, I am having a hard time finding a lot of offense to like for such a big slate. It feels more like a spread-it-out kind of night if not jamming in the Mariners, but I’m hoping to find a few other favorites as we sort through things. Let’s dive in and see what happens.

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

There is a lot of good pitching on this slate, with solid options in all different price ranges. I am going to use $8,000 on DK as the cutoff between tiers.

TOP TIER PITCHING

• Dylan Cease at Rangers – 35.3% K, 10.8% BB, 2.38 ERA, 3.06 SIERA
• Tyler Glasnow vs. Giants – 32% K, 8.7% BB, 3.50 ERA, 3.14 SIERA
• Cade Cavalli at Cardinals – 28.2% K, 7% BB, 3.12 ERA, 3.21 SIERA
• Gerrit Cole at Diamondbacks – 24.6% K, 4.6% BB, 3.67 ERA, 3.58 SIERA
• Nick Pivetta vs. Marlins – 3rd start off IL
• Ian Seymour vs. Red Sox – 29.5% K, 6.7% BB, 4.27 ERA, 3.10 SIERA
• Bryan Woo at Rockies – 24.8% K, 5.3% BB, 3.88 ERA, 3.56 SIERA
• Ranger Suarez at Rays – 22.8% K, 7% BB, 3.33 ERA, 3.88 SIERA

Both Dylan Cease and Tyler Glasnow had control issues in their last starts, which led to shorter outings, and that is always going to be a possibility with these two aces. But at the same time, these are two of the highest-strikeout pitchers in the league, with endless upside every time they take the mound. With this kind of strikeout ability, they have both a high floor and a high ceiling that makes it easier to stomach the bad outings. With Glasnow, he was pretty close to a worst-case scenario in his last start, with a .444 BABIP and 25% HR/FB% joining his walks, and yet he still put up enough strikeouts to not completely bury you. Even if he’s walking batters again, it’s unlikely he’ll run into the same kind of issues with the BABIP here. It’s possible that the Dodgers start to scale back his workload, but I am not seeing that as the most likely scenario here, so with something like 90+ pitches at home against the Giants, I am completely comfortable with Glasnow in any lineup.
