Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Thursday 7/2

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the July 2, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Thursday! We have a slower day in MLB with just a 6-game main slate, starting a little earlier than normal at 6:40 PM ET. It’s a slate that looks pretty well spread out on both the pitching and hitting sides and is also split into 3 earlier games in extremely hot weather and then 3 later games either inside or not as toasty. Let’s dig in and see what that does to the slate.
Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

This is a super interesting pitching slate, with a lot of closely bunched options. We have a mixture of guys who have been great at different stages of their careers, some this season, some in the not-too-distant past, along with several small sample pitchers with potential. There is only a $2,200 salary gap between all 9 of these pitchers, so while I won’t say salary doesn’t matter, they can all be lumped into the same tier:
- Bryce Miller vs. Angels – 33.1% K, 3.1% BB, 1.97 ERA, 2.42 SIERA
- Nathan Eovaldi vs. Tigers – 24.4% K, 5.6% BB, 3.95 ERA, 3.42 SIERA
- Davis Martin at Guardians – 23.8% K, 6.3% BB, 3.00 ERA, 3.67 SIERA
- Walbert Urena at Mariners – 22% K, 11.8% BB, 3.14 ERA, 4.40 SIERA
- Ian Seymour at Royals – 25.1% K, 9.7% BB, 4.32 ERA, 3.89 SIERA
- Hurston Waldrep vs. Cardinals – 1st start of season
- Roki Sasaki vs. Padres – 23.2% K, 9.6% BB, 4.88 ERA, 4.18 SIERA
- Dustin May at Braves – 22.5% K, 6.4% BB, 4.30 ERA, 3.84 SIERA
- Framber Valdez at Rangers – 18.5% K, 8.2% BB, 4.05 ERA, 4.32 SIERA
If we can just take these 2026 numbers at face value, then Bryce Miller is the very clear and obvious SP1. These numbers are only in 45 innings, and nothing in his past suggests he’ll maintain a 30%+ K rate, but when combined with the elite control, it’s tough to make a case against him as the top pitcher tonight. While he was a piggyback starter multiple times this season, it looks like they are letting him go as the full starter here, and we’ve seen 90+ pitches the last three times that’s happened. The safest assumption is that he backs off to something like a 25% K rate, but with a home matchup against the Angels, that is still enough to make him…
