Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Wednesday 7/1

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the July 1, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Wednesday and happy July! We have a split-slate kind of day with games spread out all over the place. Our main slate is a 7-gamer on DK at 7:15 PM ET, while FD starts a little earlier at 6:40 PM ET, adding one additional game. We also have an early 6-game slate on DK that starts at 12:35 PM ET, also known as lunchtime!
We’ll also have Expert Tags and analysis in our MLB lineup optimizer, LineupHQ, if you’re looking for more analysis on the early slate.
We have the same 3 big offensive spots as the last couple days, but they are split up. The Wrigley Wind game is on the early slate, leaving Coors Field and West Sacramento for the evening slate.
Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings

It’s not a great pitching slate. There are no sure-fire aces, but you also don’t have to pay ace pricing since nobody is priced over $9,000 on DK.
- Payton Tolle vs. Nationals – 24.2% K, 7% BB, 2.78 ERA, 3.89 SIERA
- Troy Melton at Yankees – 17.2% K, 6.2% BB, 2.39 ERA, 4.58 SIERA
- Dean Kremer vs. White Sox – 1st start off IL
- Will Warren vs. Tigers – 22.9% K, 7.9% BB, 3.75 ERA, 3.97 SIERA
- MacKenzie Gore at Guardians – 25.3% K, 9.9% BB, 4.05 ERA, 4.01 SIERA
- Joey Cantillo vs. Rangers – 23.6% K, 10.8% BB, 3.87 ERA, 4.30 SIERA
- Freddy Peralta at Blue Jays – 22% K, 8.8% BB, 4.53 ERA, 4.17 SIERA
- Andrew Alvarez at Red Sox – 26.8% K, 9.6% BB, 3.44 ERA, 3.25 SIERA
I am seeing this as a very simple pitching slate to narrow down. While he always has risk, MacKenzie Gore is my SP1 at just $8,000 against the Guardians. This Cleveland team is such nonsense against lefties that he would be my SP1 even if he were the most expensive pitcher on the slate. Their active roster ranks dead last in the league in HR, ISO, wOBA, and wRC+ against LHP, and even this year’s relatively bad version of Gore is in the same skill set range as every other pitcher on this slate. We also know from his past history that he has upside here, but even if he’s just the same OK pitcher he’s been most of this season…
