NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, May 1

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?

Notorious: Scottie Barnes
headChopper: Paolo Banchero
ncorfield8k: Scottie Barnes

Who is your favorite player to spend up for in large-field tournaments?

Notorious: Cade Cunningham
headChopper: Cade Cunningham
ncorfield8k: Amen Thompson

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. We have a lot more injuries than usual in the playoffs, which has opened up a ton of strong value plays. The Raptors are likely going to be without Brandon Ingram and Immanuel Quickley, so there are 7 viable plays on their roster. The Rockets are missing Kevin Durant, so all 5 of their starters have a clear path to 35+ minutes. The Magic are without Franz Wagner, so Anthony Black stands out as an elite value. The key to tonight’s slate is to find the sneaky value play that has a big game. My favorite is Jakob Poeltl.

headChopper: I prefer small-field GPPs that have single or limited entries. I plan on picking one star player, picking one salary saver, and then filling in the rest with mid-tier options. There is clear early chalk, with Anthony Black garnering massive pOWN%. Not sure I can fade him entirely, but next on the pOWN% list are guys like Reed Sheppard and Ausar Thompson, who are guys I can and will fade.

ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments – All 3 of these games have spreads of 4.5 points or less, and the team with the lowest implied team total (LAL, 101) is just 10.5 points lower than the highest (CLE, 111.5). There are a lot of different directions to go and the value is not particularly strong. I’ll be doing some game-stacking and trying to go against the grain both with my spend-ups and cheap values.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
