World Cup DFS Picks & Strategy: Tuesday, June 23rd
The second matchweek of Group Play in the 2026 World Cup comes to a close today, with 4 games from Group K and Group L. While it doesn’t have quite the star power of yesterday’s slate, several big names are ready to take the pitch, and many different strategies are going to make sense as you fill out your DFS lineup. DraftKings has some great contests on the board once again, so let’s dive in and break down some of the top plays for today’s featured slate.
The heaviest favorite of the day is Portugal, who takes on Uzbekistan at 1:00 PM ET. England is the 2nd-heaviest favorite, as they face off with Ghana at 4:00 PM ET in Foxborough. The other half of England’s Group L features Panama and Croatia meeting at 7:00 PM ET, while the final fixture of the day is Colombia and Congo DR, who are in Group K (with Portugal and Uzbekistan).
Of the teams in action today, Colombia, England and Ghana won their first match, while Panama, Croatia, and Uzbekistan lost. According to the odds, Colombia and Congo DR should be the closest matchup, even though Colombia won their match over Uzbekistan and Congo DR earned a tough draw with Portugal.
Just a reminder that the tournament has been expanded this year to include more teams in both the Group Stage and Knockout Round. As a result, the top 2 teams will be moving on from each group, and the top 8 3rd-place teams will earn a spot in the Round of 32 as well. England is heavily favored to win its group, while Colombia is the slight favorite in Group K, just barely ahead of Portugal.

Top Play: Harry Kane, England ($10,600)
Kane and the Three Lions got off to a convincing start to the World Cup despite a supposedly tough matchup against Croatia. Kane scored 2 goals in the 4-2 win while adding 7 shots (3 on goal), 2 chances created, and a total of 33.3 DraftKings points.
Despite some injury concerns coming into the match, the 32-year-old played the full 90 minutes. His 1st goal came on a penalty shot in the 12th minute, and he added a header in the 42nd minute. The 2 goals moved him into a tie for the all-time England World Cup scoring record, which he’ll be looking to claim for his own in today’s match against Ghana.
Kane comes into the tournament off an exceptional season with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. He scored a total of 61 goals in his 51 appearances for Munich across all competitions.
He’s proven to be one of the best goalscorers of all time, and he will look to build on that legacy today. At $10,600, Kane is expensive, but if you can afford to pay up for him, no player matches his scoring potential on this slate.
