theScore Bet Promo Code and Review 2024
Update: As of July 2022, theScore Bet no longer operates in any US state. As a Canadian company, theScore Bet has shifted its focus back to its home country and away from the US market. This page is no longer accurate and will not be updated.
Fortunately, there are still plenty of US sports betting promos you can claim:
theScore as it exists today began as a content-focused sports media company based out of Toronto, Canada. The brand created an easy-to-use mobile app that was a great source of sports related news, stats, and scores, enabling fans to effectively engage with their favorite teams and leagues like never before. Now, with the advent of regulated sports betting in the United States, theScore has evolved.
The company launched theScore Bet, its first online sports betting offering, in September 2019 in the state of New Jersey. Effectively combining its expertise in mobile engagement with a wealth of sports knowledge and data, theScore has created an effective, useful sports betting platform that’s loaded with value. theScore Bet is now available in a quickly growing list of states and even its home country of Canada. Sign Up With theScore Bet
Creating your theScore Bet account is a little different than some other prominent sportsbooks. First up, you’ll want to open the app. Since theScore Bet only exists as a mobile app right now, you’ll land on a page that requests your phone number.
Enter your number and theScore Bet will text you a link for the app download:
Click the link and you’re off to the races. theScore Bet online sportsbook is available for both iOS and Android devices, and the download only takes a few seconds. You can also find the app in the App Store or Google Play store, respectively. Once you’ve got it on your phone or tablet, go ahead and fire it up.
As is typical with regulated online gambling in the United States, personal information is required during account creation. You will need to give theScore Bet your legal name, address, phone number, the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number, set up security questions, etc. Don’t fret, it’s safe and sound, your information won’t be leaked or sold. A username is also required, which will double as both a log-in credential and your handle when using theScore’s content app.
Once you’ve created the account, before you can access the book you will need to confirm your identity by submitting a photo ID and a selfie. It’s kind of a different process, but the app will automatically prompt you to scan both sides of your ID, and then launch an interesting facial scanning tech that verifies that you are in fact the owner of said ID card. Once uploaded, you’re good to go.
Can I Wager With theScore Bet?
Probably! There are only two real eligibility qualifiers. You need to:
- Be more than 21 years old
- Be located inside of a legal sports betting state where theScore Bet has launched (check the table below for a complete list)
If you’re old enough, and located in the right spot, you’re in business. Residency in a certain area is not required. Even if you’re just visiting or passing through a state like Colorado, where theScore Bet is live, you can still place legal wagers.
Prove Your Location
If you’re in a state that accepts legal wagers, you need to prove it… theScore Bet can’t just take your word for it. Thankfully, as a mobile-only platform it’s really easy to confirm your location through the theScore Bet app. Once you open the app it will request access to your location services. You need to approve it, or else you won’t be able to place a bet. If theScore Bet can’t pinpoint your exact location, it won’t accept a wager.
theScore Bet Active States
theScore launched its first online sportsbook in the state of New Jersey in September 2019. A little slow out of the gate, the brand is now gaining on the competition with record speed. Current markets now include:
Keep in mind that due to a lack of federal legislation, theScore Bet will operate a little differently in each state. Local state-specific laws may result in changes to the available bet types, betting markets, or banking methods. With that being said, there is only one app that encompasses all available states so the experience is pretty consistent overall.
New Jersey
- License Partner: Monmouth Park Racetrack
- theScore Bet users in the Garden State can’t wager on local, NJ colleges. For example, if Rutgers makes a run in the NCAA tournament, you won’t be able to bet on them while inside the state.
- Another collegiate restriction, any college competition that’s set inside the state of New Jersey is also off limits. If Atlantic City is hosting the first round of March Madness, or there’s a college bowl game at MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, theScore NJ bettors are out of luck.
Colorado
- License Partner: The Gilpin Casino (Jacobs Entertainment)
- Colorado law permits more than a thousand unique bet types and markets, giving it unprecedented variety.
- Prop betting on college sports is not permitted in CO.
Indiana
- License Partner: Ameristar Casino East Chicago
- Overall, Indiana is pretty typical when it comes to sports betting legislation. There aren’t any niche restrictions to speak of.
Iowa
- License Partner: Ameristar Casino Council Bluffs (Penn National Gaming)
- Iowa sports bettors can wager on just about everything with the notable exception of in-game props on college sports.
theScore Bet is now live in Ontario
As mentioned above, theScore Bet is now live in its home country of Canada. The Canadian federal government legalized single-game wagering in August 2021 but left it up to the states whether to open up their borders to outside operators. Ontario was first out of the gate, quickly announcing that sportsbooks would be allowed to operate in the province beginning on April 4, 2022. You better believe that theScore Bet was live on April 4. It has had a tremendously successful launch in Ontario due to its widespread brand recognition. We expect theScore Bet to be one of the top operators in Ontario for some time.
theScore Bet Mobile App
There’s only one way to bet with theScore Bet. There is no desktop or web browser site that you can visit. Instead, all wagers are placed through the easy-running mobile app. Don’t worry though, theScore as a company knows how to put an app together.
Aesthetically the sportsbook has a natural, easy-on-the-eyes “dark” style to it. While some apps may have an available dark mode, theScore Bet just skips that step all together and defaults to it. Advertisements and odds are generally displayed in either an electric blue, or a bright yellow which really pop against the black background.
Layout wise, there’s nothing revolutionary. theScore Bet looks a lot like most online sportsbooks – but that’s not a bad thing. There’s a list of popular in-season sports along the top of the app, with ‘Live’ games that are underway, or fast approaching, just below. There’s a conveniently placed ‘Promos’ bar with rotating banners showing current offers that should be monitored. Even further down the “meat” of the book takes over. The most important games from the most popular sports are displayed, each with a spread, total, and moneyline. Notably, a bright green ‘Live’ button appears in the top left corner if in-game betting is available at that time.
When you decide on the right bet, just touch it with your finger and it will automatically attach to the betslip, which appears from the bottom of the screen. If you add more than one item the option to group them together as a parlay or a teaser appears at the top of your slip. You can choose one of the pre-loaded amounts, or enter your own. Mash the blue ‘Place Bet’ button to solidify the wager.
Why theScore Bet?
Regulated online sports betting in the United States is a crowded space. Depending on the state, there’s plenty of competition for your action. Why choose theScore Bet? We’ll tell you why.
theScore Bet Promotions
theScore Bet offers a great lineup of promotions that is refreshed on the regular. From deposit match reload bonuses, to daily odds boosts, to parlay double-ups. These offers are often centered around major events – like March Madness (as seen in the screen shot above!)
Superb Mobile App
Combined with tech provider Bet.Works, theScore has put together a state of the art, well featured, smooth running mobile app that users across the country will love. Sure, it would be nice to have a desktop option, but with theScore Bet’s mobile product – you won’t miss it.
theScore Content App
theScore isn’t just about sports betting. The company also has a separate, but very cool sports media/content app. It’s great for news, sports debate, and of course… scores. The content app isn’t directly linked to the theScore Bet app, but when used in tandem they create a fantastic pair.
How to Bank With theScore Bet
theScore Bet offers several easy options for adding money to, and removing money from their app. To access the cashier, select your account via the top-right corner of the display, then click the ‘Deposit’ button. Available options may vary based on your location. Deposit or withdrawal methods available in Iowa may not translate exactly to the Indiana market. Common options include:
- Credit Card / Debit Card – Visa or Mastercard only. Cards are generally used for deposits, as opposed to a withdrawals.
- Instant Bank Transfer – Online Banking Transfer. Attach your bank account to the app and transfer funds with ease.
- theScore Bet Play+ Card – a prepaid, theScore Bet branded card that’s easy to preload with cash, deposit, and withdraw with. All players who register for a Play+ card will also receive a physical copy of the card in the mail which can be used for cash withdrawals at any ATM.
- PayPal: The worldwide-leading digital wallet is one of the best banking methods in the business. Between lightning fast withdrawals and its ability to store multiple payment methods, it is recommended that every bettor has access to a PayPal account.
While there’s certainly some room to grow, theScore Bet’s banking options get the job done by covering all of the basics.
theScore Bet Wager Options
What you can and can’t bet on with theScore may vary by state. Due to local regulations there may be relevant restrictions to keep in mind. Check out the state by state breakdown above for a general summary of each area. With that being said, theScore Bet consistently offers the following sports:
- Football (NFL, NCAAF)
- Basketball (NBA, NCAAB)
- Baseball (MLB, NCAA)
- Hockey (NHL)
- Soccer (MLS, EPL, La Liga, Serie A, and many more)
- Combat Sports (MMA, Boxing)
- Golf (PGA)
- Motor Sports (NASCAR)
- Tennis
And as far as how you bet on these events, there’s an equally large amount of variety. Bet the spread, moneyline, total, build parlays and teasers, pick out fun props and futures, or even wager live, as a game takes place with in-play betting.
theScore Bet VIP Rewards
The VIP program on theScore Bet is a bit enigmatic. The company doesn’t disclose a lot of information regarding the VIP rewards structure other than that it does exist, and that it is invite only. Exclusive promotional offers await those who are fortunate enough to join the club, but we can’t speak to exactly what that might entail, and what degree of activity is required to take part.
With that being said, they do advertise that if you’ve attained a VIP status with another sportsbook, they welcome your action. You can contact vip@thescore.com, let them know what your status is with the other books you frequent, and they’ll consider you for an immediate VIP bump.
More About theScore Bet
While the current iteration of theScore was born in 2012, the company’s roots actually date back to the early 90s. The company began as ‘Sportscope’, which was essentially a TV program that offered a rotating display of sports scores. Available throughout much of Canada, it was text-only, and often incorporated betting info. The channel evolved over the years, eventually gaining access to live programming in the 2000s, and rebranding to theScore Television Network. In 2012 the TV element was sold to Rogers Communications and rebranded as Sportsnet 360.
While the TV network no longer bears its name, the theScore brand lives on. theScore’s media app first hit the internet in 2007 to rave reviews. It now boasts millions of active users with interests across the entire scope of the sporting world.
theScore had been monitoring the legal sports betting situation in the United States for some time, and was ready to pounce following the fall of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA). The company’s first pivot into iGaming took place in 2019 with the launch of theScore Bet. The initial rollout took place in New Jersey through a licensing partnership with Monmouth Park. The mobile-only sports betting product is now available in regulated sports betting states across the country.
Customer Support
Just like the cashier, visit your account through the button in the top right corner of the app to access support. One of the available options is labeled simply: Help. The Help section is packed with resources, including a detailed FAQ. If you’re looking for real time help, choose Contact Support. This will bring up the choice of:
- Live Chat: Agents available 24/7
- Phone: +1 (855)-550-1238
- Email: support@thescore.bet
You can’t go wrong with any of the options. Live Chat and phone will produce more immediate results, but email has its place. Regardless of what you choose, theScore Bet will take care of you.
