We’re back with the first edition of the Rankings Review for 2017, and for the first time in a long time someone not named SaahilSud is leading the way in the RotoGrinders Tournament Player of the Year race, as awesemo has been crushing the competition in both NBA and MLB all year to ascend to the top spot. Awesemo has indeed been awesome as he already has over 50 scores topping 1,000 points each including a staggering 36 of those contests being GPP wins. He currently holds a nearly 6,000 point lead over his next competitor – the familiar face of youdacao, who holds a slim lead over the brothers ChipotleAddict and papagates with scout326 just a few points behind those two rounding out the top five.

Lurking not too far behind that group is our reigning TPOY Champion, Saahil Sud, in 6th place. The rest of the top 10 is petteytheft89, ThatStunna, peteyt, RikkieDee, and moklovin – all familiar names but new to these lofty heights in our rankings. Some faces that are used to being at the top and are currently in the top 25 include aejones (16th), ehafner (17th), DraftCheat (18th), mbomb44 (19th), and csuram88 (24th). RotoGrinder’s contributor squirrelpatrol finds himself in contention in 21st place.

Saahil Sud might not top the TPOY race right now but he continues to crush the competition in the Super Heavyweight division as he holds a nearly half-million point lead over youdacao. This tier contains the best of the best, the high rollers of the industry, so it’s not surprising to see all the familiar names like ChipotleAddict (3rd), papagates (4th), ehafner (7th), AssaniFisher (14th), and SamENole (25th) among the leaders. Some players you might not have heard of but are worth keeping an eye on include fallfromgrace (8th), peteyt (9th), live finalist savant shawnzhan (19th), and jhorst52 (20th).

Superheavyweight Leaderboard

The Heavyweight tier is filled with some of RotoGrinders top contributors with squirrelpatrol, boggslite, and theseige all holding spots in the top 7. The current leader, however, is ocdobv who holds a top 20 ranking in both NFL (#6) and MLB (#19) and a top 60 ranking in NBA to prove he’s one of the best in the industry. chess_is_ok is the only other player above 200,000 points in 2nd place but he’s still a ways from the top spot. Other notable names in the top 25 include Kcannon in 12th, bidle in 14th, Mallen21 in 22nd, and another RG contributor headChopper in 25th.

Heavyweight Leaderboard

DollarBill has been riding a hot streak of late and finds himself at the top of the Middleweight tier thanks in no part to two huge MLB GPP wins at the end of April in the span of three days. On the 23rd he topped a field of 6,818 to win the DraftKings Nifty Fifty and would top that two days later when he bested 13,839 others in the Super Fastball on DK. He holds a nearly 40,000 point lead over current runner-up rayzethesky with jordanh415, BDholla89, and windchimesrrude rounding out the top 5.

Middleweight Leaderboard

Anilprao88 might not play at the highest levels in the industry but he’s not letting that stop him from being a serious contender for all the major leaderboards here on RotoGrinders. The top ranked Welterweight is currently #20 in the TPOY race, #85 in NFL, #45 in MLB, and #27 in NBA despite having an average buy-in of under $10 over the past 365 days. He had a particularly memorable day back on March 15th when he won both the Four Point Play and Crossover on DraftKings. Capri is not too far back in 2nd place – less than 10,000 points behind with the rest of the top five lozingitall, pjm11, and rhino2424 all well behind those two. RG legend and GrindersLive host dean78904 sits in 8th place. Bankroll management!!

Welterweight Leaderboard

CZYX has been at the top of a tier leaderboard since RotoGrinders introduced them back in 2016 and he continues to hold the top spot in the Bantamweight tier. Currently #64 in the TPOY race with a #28 NBA ranking and #4 MMA ranking (as well as a top 200 MLB ranking), he’s among the best in the industry despite having an average buy-in of less than $4 over the past year. He recently had his biggest score ever when he won the FanDuel Spectacular Shot on April 17th besting over 80,000 other lineups. He’s so dominant in this tier that the next closest person benbell23 is over 80,000 points behind. Chad001, shipper21, and randlan are the other three in the top 5 who have their work cut out for them (unless CZYX moves up in tiers) to get the top spot.

Bantamweight Leaderboard

While CZYX dominates the Bantamweight class, it’s kratom who dominates RG’s lowest tier, the Flyweight class with more than double the points of his nearest competition. He’s a top 100 ranked Grinder sitting at #84 in the TPOY race and top 125 in five different sports – all despite having an average buy-in barely topping two dollars over the past year. He’s had five top three finishes in fields topping 50,000 this year alone. BBROCK, rdewji, jun15ior, and thechamp round out the top 5 of the tier.

Flyweight Leaderboard

That’s it for this first edition of the 2017 Rankings Review – we’ll be updating this on a weekly basis the rest of the year!
