2018 SuperContest Gold Recap: “GIVE ME MY NAME 7” with Early Lead
The 2018 SuperContest Gold football handicapping contest attracted 128 entries, up from the 94 that it drew in its inaugural year in 2017. After one week of professional football, “GIVE ME MY NAME 7” sat alone at the top of the leaderboard with a perfect 5-0 record.
The SuperContest Gold competition is a winner-take-all payout format and costs $5,000 to enter. This year, first place is set at $640,000.
GIVE ME MY NAME 7 grabbed five wins from the Cleveland Browns (+3.5), Cincinnati Bengals (+3), Baltimore Ravens (-7.5), Jacksonville Jaguars (-3), and Los Angeles Rams (-4). Not only did the contestant go undefeated against the spread, but he went without a loss in straight up action.
Two teams, NO PRESSURE and BANGTHEBOOK.COM, finished Week 1 of the NFL season with records of 4-0-1. They’re tied for second place, and then 21 teams were next on the leaderboard after going 4-1.
The most popular side selected in the SuperContest Gold was the Bengals (+3) on the road against the Indianapolis Colts (-3). In addition to the Bengals, the five most popular picks included the Houston Texans (+6.5), Chicago Bears (+7.5), Denver Broncos (-3), and Rams (-4). Those five most selected sides went 3-1-1 in Week 1.
