2018 SuperContest Gold Recap: Two Teams Tied Up Top

The 2018 SuperContest Gold football handicapping contest attracted 128 entries, up from the 94 that it drew in its inaugural year in 2017. The $5,000 buy-in, winner-take-all football handicapping competition wrapped up Week 2 with two teams tied for first place. This year, first place is set at $640,000.

The two teams tied at the top of the SuperContest Gold leaderboard were “BANGTHEBOOK.COM” and “AMIRSUFI,” both with records of 7-2-1.

AMIRSUFI went 2-2-1 in Week 1, but followed that up with a perfect 5-0 result in Week 2 to grab a share of the lead. BANGTHEBOOK.COM went 4-0-1 in Week 1 and 3-2 in Week 2. The two contestants shared the picks of Miami Dolphins (+2.5) and Chicago Bears (-3.5).

“GIVE ME MY NAME 7,” who was in sole possession of first place in the 2018 SuperContest Gold after Week 1 thanks to an unblemished 5-0 scorecard, pulled a complete 180-degree turn and went 0-5 in Week 2. With the result, GIVE ME MY NAME 7 fell to 5-5 overall and finished Week 2 tied for 51st place overall.

The most popular side selected in the SuperContest Gold for Week 2 was the Houston Texans (PK) on the road against the Tennessee Titans, but the Texans failed to cover and 67 SuperContest Gold contestants had a losing pick. The top five consensus picks in SuperContest Gold went 1-4 in Week 2, and the top 10 went 3-7.
