Why You Should Shop US Sportsbooks for 2020 NFL Draft Betting Lines

Whether betting on the NFL, NBA or MLB, it’s imperative that sports bettors take the time to shop multiple legal US sportsbooks, but it may be more important than ever when it comes to shopping for the best NFL Draft betting lines. Here are just two — of many — examples highlighting the differences in 2020 NFL Draft odds across top online sports betting sites as we wait for the first round to kick off next Thursday, April 23.

NFL Draft Betting: Who Will Draft Jordan Love?

Jordan Love will likely be the fourth quarterback off NFL draft boards, behind Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert.

For a portion of the offseason, the debate was about who would be the third quarterback drafted, Herbert or Love? However, Love has taken the backseat as the conversation has shifted towards which quarterback will follow the Heisman Trophy winner: Tagovailoa or Herbert.

So when will Love be drafted and by whom exactly? You won’t find much consensus among oddsmakers at US sportsbooks:

PointsBet has since joined FanDuel in making the Jaguars the favorites to land Love. If you too believe the Jaguars will bite on the quarterback from Utah State, there’s still far more value in betting at FanDuel where a $100 bet profits $300 compared to $210 at PointsBet.

Other potential suitors for Love (sounds like a dating show, doesn’t it?) include the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.

The Colts and Saints both have veteran quarterbacks in Philip Rivers and Drew Brees, respectively, while the Patriots decide how they’ll move on following Brady’s departure to Tampa Bay.

Here’s the best sportsbook for each of those three teams in terms of value:

Odds are accurate as of Wednesday, April 15, and subject to change.

Additionally, the Over/Under for Love is 17.5 at PointsBet but 19.5 at BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel.

NFL Draft Betting: Who Will Draft Jeff Okudah?

Sportsbooks are in agreement that the Detroit Lions, currently in possession of the No. 3 pick, are favorites to draft Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah. Though in agreement, some are more confident than others.

For instance, the Lions are only -105 at PointsBet but -167 at DraftKings. Should Okudah fall past the Lions, betting a PointsBet would save you $62 if you’re wagering to win $100 (note: this market isn’t currently posted at FanDuel).

And should Okuda do just that, there are larger discrepancies across sportsbooks for the teams that would have a chance at the cornerback:

As you can see, the differences in these NFL Draft odds are more than marginal. The Panthers are runners up to draft Okudah at DraftKings while five teams sit between the Lions and the Panthers at PointsBet.

Similarly, the Giants are runners up at PointsBet while there’s a four-team gap between the Lions and Giants at DraftKings.

As I wrote earlier this week, I expect the New York Giants to draft an offensive lineman (which you can bet +100 at PointsBet) so I won’t be taking advantage of the 20-1 odds at DraftKings.

Even if you believe as I do that the Lions will draft Okudah, there’s enough value at both sportsbooks to hedge.

These are just two examples of why you should be shopping across US Sportsbooks before making bets on the 2020 NFL Draft, but with other sports on pause, NFL Draft betting is more popular than ever. With sportsbooks meeting demand by creating a growing number for NFL Draft props — there currently 158 NFL Draft betting markets at PointsBet! — there are plenty more opportunities to take advantage of if you’re willing to put in the time.
