Daily Joust Gives Back With Toys for Tots Tournament

Five minutes after sending an email to Daily Joust proposing his idea for a Toys For Tots charitable fantasy tournament, Brian “ChainSaul” Saul, a United States Marine, received a response from owner Mike Matthys saying “Sounds great! Let’s do it.” From there, the idea came to fruition quickly, and is a full-blown tournament you can play in this weekend on Daily Joust. The thought of helping out while playing Daily Fantasy Sports is truly an awesome concept.

The tournament is guaranteed $300 in cash-prizes and has a $5.00 buy-in. Ten percent, or $0.50, of each entry will be donated to the US Marines Toys For Tots Charity , whose mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. The tournament allows for unlimited entries and unlimited users, with the aim that they will help to raise a lot of money for Toys For Tots. To make participating in the event even more enticing Daily Joust has also designated the event a Super Joust Qualifier, so not only can you help give back this weekend, you could win a trip to Vegas in the process.

Daily Joust seems really appreciative of ChainSaul’s suggestions, and they proved it by slapping Saul’s name on the tournament (“Chainsaul’s Marine ToysForTots Charity NFL TOURNAMENT”). As a U.S. Marine, ChainSaul has been helping out with the Toys for Tots program for over twenty years. Saul recently was the featured guest on the RotoGrinders Daily Fantasy Fix, and you can listen to his interview here.

Daily Joust seems to be interested in making this concept an ongoing and long-term part of their site. Daily Joust owner Mike Matthys told me that he thinks they “are doing something cool, and that Daily Joust is hoping this can become a truly large-scale tournament and charity event.” Additionally, the event seems to be very well received by the Daily Fantasy Sports community. RotoGrinder Member Tippy, led the charge in the forums, to give back any and all of their winnings from the event to the Toys for Tots Program.

Both Daily Joust and Brian Saul indicated that a side-benefit of the Toys for Tots tournament is that it could help improve the image of the Daily Fantasy industry to the general public, though this was neither parties’ primary source of inspiration for creating the event. Still a new industry, Daily Fantasy is often associated with sports betting and gambling, despite being a 100% legal game and having many study and prove that it is a game of skill
