DraftKings Legends Series - $6,000,000 Guaranteed for 2014 MLB
With much of the daily fantasy industry wanting to know what DraftKings would unveil for their MLB Championship this season, Jason Robins and Jon Aguiar were kind enough to join Dan and Al on GrindersLive to give us the specs on this whole thing.. and it’s amazing. However, it won’t be the only announcement the guys at DraftKings will make, as the championship is not just one event; the Legends Series will consist of four “majors” that will conclude with a live final in Atlantis with a $3,300,000 prize pool! After FanDuel announced their week-long baseball championship just a short time ago, players have been anxious to see what the other members of the big three have in store. DraftKings has upped the ante with every single championship event they offered, and it’s pretty incredible if you look back and see how much the prize pools have increased in such a short time span. This past NFL season was the first we saw of the multi-million dollar finals, and it’s nice to see that it’s carrying over to America’s favorite past-time. The 2014 MLB season is off to a great start with two huge announcements in the last two weeks, and it is fun to think about where the prize pools might land a few years from now.
This looks like an absolutely incredible championship event and the trip to Atlantis alone seems worth trying to qualify for. The live championship in Atlantis (which is in the Bahamas for those of you who aren’t great with geography) will run from August 22nd to the 27th, so it’s longer then most live events and it’s something you can enjoy with your family as well. It’s obvious that the DraftKings team has spent a great deal of time planning and organizing this event, and if you’re lucky enough to gain entry it will be a week you won’t forget anytime soon, especially if you walk away with the million dollar top prize! The first of the four majors was announced via GrindersLive tonight, here’s what you can expect for that event and when you will find out about the others:
Major #1 – $400,000 Sweet Spot
- When? – April 25th
- Satellites will be running now through April 25th, at various buy-in levels that will appeal to bankrolls of all levels
- Buy-in directly for $200
- 2,240 total entries, 450 teams payed out
- $40,000 to 1st, $25,000 to 2nd
- The next major (which will be held in May) will be announced towards the end of April, and the June/July events will be announced with a few weeks notice
