Here is the official release from FanDuel:
The FanDuel Fantasy Football Championship (FFFC) is a weekly draft fantasy football tournament with two rounds. And $200,000 in cash prizes paid out during the season. The second, and final, round will be on December 11th, live in Las Vegas.
FanDuel will fly the finalists to Las Vegas to compete in an intense fantasy football league that lasts just one day. The winner will be crowned FanDuel Fantasy Football Grand Champion and take home the top prize of $75,000.
Starting September 11th, every week for 12 weeks, FanDuel will host a qualifying league. These qualifying leagues will last just one week each and each one will have runner-up prizes of $4,000. The winner each week will get the trip to Vegas – and a guaranteed prize of up to $75,000.
The format is the same as last season, with a weekly satellite each week with $10 entries. The satellites will run for the first 12 weeks of the season, meaning 12 FanDuelers will be heading to Vegas to compete. The finals will once again be held at Lagasse Stadium and Sportsbook on the strip. It combines Emeril Lagasse’s signature cuisine and kicked-up game day eats with more than 100 HD TVs including a 9 foot x 16 foot main TV, luxury boxes, smiling Stadium Girls, plush stadium-style seating, billiard tables, and an outdoor patio just steps from the Strip. Last year, RotoGrinders members GeneralV, Beermakersfan and Whits23 qualified for the FFFC finals along with RotoGrinders founder Cal Spears. This year we hope 5 or more ‘Grinders’ make it!
FanDuel representatives Alex Zelvin and Cameron Boal were stoaked to talk about the big announcement. Zelvin told me that this years changes “basically revolve around more money…with way more for the winner.” Alex also mentioned that they added 2 weeks to the qualifying rounds, adding weeks 11-12 replacing the freeroll satellites from last season. Zelvin also mentioned that “this year FanDuel is getting rid of tiebreakers. They felt a bit artificial; If two people tie for first in a qualifier, they should get the opportunity to play off for the spot the following week” he continued. When asked if the game format will be altered for the Live event at all this season, Zelvin said that “they may try to make the lineup ‘reveal’ a bit more dramatic this year, but that it will be the same Salary Structure used every week on FanDuel.
