Pitcher Grind Down
- Jason Vargas – Vargas has pitched well for the rolling Royals this year. He has a 3.17 ERA and very nice 1.18 WHIP. His K/9 of 5.93 depresses his value a bit as well as the fact that the Rangers are 8th in the league in team wOBA against LH pitching in Globe. This makes him a tough, GPP only play today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6800 FD, $12800 DD, $7400 DK, $NA FF, $21600 SS, $12800 FTD
- Scott Baker – Baker has strickly come out of the bullpen recently which tells me he will not go to deep into the game. He also has been picked apart this year for a 5+ ERA. Avoid him against the Royals. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $7500 DD, $6400 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $7500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Kansas City
Alex Gordon – I saw a stat yesterday that said Alex Gordon has the highest WAR in the league ahead of Mike Trout. The guy is having an unbelievable year and is a main reason why the Royals are doing so well. His confidence is high and his price is as well so you will have to pay up.
Additional Plays: Salvador Perez, Billy Butler, Josh Willingham
Texas
Alex Rios – Although he has cooled down, he still has a wOBA of .406 against LH pitching. He makes a decent, cheap cash game play today.
Additional Plays: Adrian Beltre

Pitcher Grind Down
- Brad Hand – Hand going into Coors, I’m gonna pass on the write up and just say avoid. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5200 FD, $10100 DD, $5600 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Christian Bergman – Same goes for here, these two teams has run out some very poor pitching matchups in this series. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5000 FD, $8750 DD, $5100 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $8750 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Miami
Giancarlo Stanton – He has got to bomb in Coors during this series right? Bergman hasn’t pitched since June, but in a small sample was crushed against RH pitching (500+ wOBA).
Additional Plays: Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna, Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Colorado
Nolan Arenado – I think he makes my top 3rd base option today as he is a hot hitter (.538 AVG in last 7 games with 3 home runs). Get him in your cash and GPP games today.
Additional Plays: Drew Stubbs, Brandon Barnes, Wilin Rosario
San Diego at Arizona

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ian Kennedy – Kennedy continues to pitch well this season and gets a matchup today in Chase field against a beaten up DBacks squad. Kennedy has a decent 3.72 ERA and 1.26 WHIP on the year and really backs it up with 168 K’s in 157 innings. The matchup at this point outweighs the park factors and this game features a low total. He makes a decent mid-tiered option today. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7600 FD, $15800 DD, $8500 DK, $NA FF, $21700 SS, $15800 FTD
- Chase Anderson – Prior to a poor recent start against the Nationals, Anderson had allowed only 9 earned runs in his last 6 starts combined. He will look to get back on track today against this Padres squad that has improved quite a bit. The game is a pickem today with a 7’ total which makes Anderson a deep, GPP option. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6400 FD, $12500 DD, $7200 DK, $ FF, $17500 SS, $12500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
Seth Smith – Even though Chase has struggled more against RH batters than Lefties, I still like Smith today. He has mashed RH pitching for a wOBA of .390 this year.
Arizona
I am actually going to avoid these Arizona bats today. I think Kennedy pitches well and this is a 3-1 game.
NY Mets at LA Dodgers

Pitcher Grind Down
- Bartolo Colon – Old man Bartolo keeps trucking along this year. He has a 3.85 ERA and very nice 1.15 WHIP this year. He is coming off 11 days rest so hopefully this keeps him fresh for the final few games of the season. His 6.97 K/9 is not terrible, but his price is at a point where I think others at his price point make better options. Rating = 5
Salaries: $8200 FD, $14800 DD, $8400 DK, $NA FF, $21700 SS, $14800 FTD
- Kevin Correia – Correia is coming off getting hit hard by the Padres at home and will now take on a similar offense in the Mets. He has been an easy avoid all season for me regardless of team, park or matchup. Continue to avoid. Rating – 3
Salaries: $5500 FD, $9850 DD, $5800 DK, $ FF, $13400 SS, $9850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
Lucas Duda – Duda is OF eligible in a lot of spots which may allow us to get him in our lineups with all the great 1st base options. He is still hitting well with 3 home runs in his last 6 games.
Additional Plays: Daniel Murphy, David Wright, Curtis Granderson
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – AGON has some decent numbers against Colon and is another 1st base option today. He is 6/18 with 2 home runs in his career.
Additional Plays: Dee Gordon, Matt Kemp
LA Angels at Oakland

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jered Weaver – Weaver has been consistently giving up 2-4 earned runs in each of his starts this season. The problem he has had is not going passed the 5th inning in a lot of starts and his strike outs are down. Add this to the tough start against the A’s and he is a GPP option only. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7100 FD, $14100 DD, $8000 DK, $NA FF, $19200 SS, $14100 FTD
- Scott Kazmir – After struggling through a few starts, Kazmir pitched very well against the Mets in his last start. He will look to carry that momentum into this start against the team with the 3rd highest wOBA against LH pitching in the league (.338). I think Kazmir pitches well today, but with the matchup and price, I would look to spend a bit more and try to get one of the other Aces today. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8600 FD, $18850 DD, $8200 DK, $ FF, $23400 SS, $18850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
Mike Trout – I don’t think I need to give the numbers, but Trout crushes LH pitching regardless of who it is. He is a top OF option today if you have the salary.
Additional Plays: Albert Pujols
Oakland
Coco Crisp – Leading off, Crisp has been one of the more consistent Oak hitters recently. He has 3 doubles, a triple and a home run in his last 5 games.
Additional Plays: John Jaso, Josh Donaldson
