Pitcher Grind Down
- Trevor May – May finally had a game where he didn’t get rocked for 3+ earned runs. That doesn’t mean he is trustworthy of a fantasy start though. In his first 6 starts, he holds a 8.38 ERA and 2.07 WHIP. Avoid him today. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5500 FD, $8150 DD, $4900 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Hector Noesi – Noesi has not been good, but has also not been terrible for the Sox. He goes about 7 innings and gives up about 3-4 earned runs per start. These type of numbers though do not translate into DFS winnings and he should be avoided. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6800 FD, $10400 DD, $7300 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
Danny Santana – Prior to the injury, Santana was one of the hottest hitters in baseball. He hurt his back about a week ago now, and has just returned back to playing. Now might be the time to jump on him as his salary may be dropping due to his struggles in his first few games back.
Additional Plays: Joe Mauer
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – He bombed yesterday and I have a feeling he may make it two days in a row today against the young May who has been crushed by hitters from both sides of the plate this year.
Additional Plays: Conor Gillaspie Adam Eaton Alexei Ramirez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Joe Kelly – Kelly has not fared so well since being acquired by the Red Sox. He does not pitch deep into games and has a very average K rate of 6.51 K/9. He has to take on a Royals team today that is looking to make the playoffs and are a heavy favorite. Kelly is an easy avoid today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6100 FD, $11300 DD, $6100 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Jason Vargas – Vargas has been of and on all season long. He comes into this game with a 3.25 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. His low K rate of 6.09 K/9 holds back much of his fantasy value, but should be in line for the win today as his team should score a few runs off of Kelly. He makes an average multi-pitcher, GPP play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6800 FD, $12550 DD, $7200 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Boston
Mike Napoli – Napoli has mashed LH pitching all year long. He has a wOBA of .400 + this year against lefties and makes a decent GPP play today.
Kansas City
Alex Gordon – Gordon’s price at sites like FD is very manageable and he has been such a great play for cash games. He should continue his great year today against Kelly today.
Additional Plays: Eric Hosmer Salvador Perez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Mike Leake – Leake has been decent for the Reds this year and has a 3.62 ERA and 1.24 WHIP for the season. He has a average strike out rate of 6.83 K/9, but has struggled a bit against this Brewers squad allowing 10 earned runs in 19 innings pitched. There are better options at his price point today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7600 FD, $13150 DD, $7800 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Matt Garza – Garza has really struggled since coming back from the DL. He has only lasted 7 innings in his 2 starts combined and has allowed 7 earned runs on 14 hits. He should be avoided until he can should he is fully recovered from the injury. Rating = 3
Salaries: $7500 FD, $14600 DD, $8300 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Jay Bruce – Bruce has owned Garza in their careers going 8/22 against him with 2 home runs.
Additional Plays: Billy Hamilton Devin Mesoraco
Milwaukee
Ryan Braun – It has been really hard to overlook Braun for me lately. His price seems to be way to cheap at a lot of sites and in decent matchups, he looks like a great play for both cash and GPP lineups. I wouldn’t go overboard with him as there is a reason he is cheap, but I think he should make it into a few of your lineups today.
Additional Plays: Aramis Ramirez Scooter Gennett

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jordan Lyles – Lyles has pitched much better away from Coors (almost 2 points lower ERA), but has to run into this Cardinals offense that has been surging a bit here recently. He is a huge underdog against a subpar pitcher which makes me think this Cards offense will continue to put up runs. Avoid him today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6300 FD, $10600 DD, $5200 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Marco Gonzales – Gonzales has been thrown back to the bullpen after being pretty horrible as a starter. He is by no means a fantasy starter for any type of format today as he has struggled in his few starts this year and I would be surprised to see him pitch passed the 5th inning. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $8150 DD, $5000 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Colorado
Nolan Arenado – Righties have crushed Gonzales for a wOBA of .400 which puts Arenado in play today as a great option at 3rd base.
Additional Plays: Drew Stubbs Michael Cuddyer
St. Louis
Matt Holliday – This guy is carrying the Cardinals over the past month or so. He is hitting over .300 in September and has 8 home runs since the start of August. He is still not too expensive at most sites and should continue his hot hitting.
Additional Plays: Matt Adams Matt Carpenter

Pitcher Grind Down
- Mike Minor – Minor has been very good recently after a poor start to the season. His September and August ERAs are both sub 3.30, but now has to go into a hitters park against a team that has hit lefties well this year. Still, he should see some run support today and makes a decent GPP play. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7300 FD, $13500 DD, $8500 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Colby Lewis – Lewis has been bad all year long along with the rest of the Rangers starters. He has a 5+ ERA and a 1.53 WHIP on the year. He should be avoided in all formats. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6800 FD, $11500 DD, $6200 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Atlanta
Freddie Freeman – Lewis has struggled against all batters this year, but has really not been able to get lefties out. Lewis has allowed a wOBA of .386 to LH batters and Freeman should put up a few runs with the rest of this Braves offense.
Additional Plays: Jason Heyward Justin Upton
Texas
Adrian Beltre – Anytime the Rangers face a lefty, Beltre is in play. His price is not too high and he has a wOBA of .426 against lefties this year.
