Pitcher Grind Down
- Dillon Gee – Gee is having a mediocre season. He is sporting a 3.88 ERA (4.22 xFIP) with a K/9 of 6.2. While Nationals Park is a pitcher-friendly ballpark, Gee typically doesn’t pitch as well away from Citi Field. He draws an extremely tough matchup against the Nationals who are ranked 8th in wOBA at home and 10th in wOBA over the last 30 days of play. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $6800 FD, $11800 DD, $7400 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Gio Gonzalez – Gonzalez is having another productive season for the Nationals. He owns a 3.74 ERA (3.50 xFIP) with a K/9 of 8.9. Gonzalez does struggle with his command at times as evidenced by his BB/9 of 3.2. He has also struggled against the Mets this season. In 4 starts against New York, he has a 5.40 ERA. While he should pitch well enough to be in line for the win, there are better options at his price point. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8600 FD, $15850 DD, $9000 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
Wilmer Flores – Flores is a very sneaky play tonight. He’s quietly swinging a hot bat. Over his last 10 games, he has 13 hits (3 HR’s) and 10 RBI’s. The best part is that his price is still cheap across the industry.
Additional Plays: Travis d’Arnaud
Washington
Bryce Harper – Harper continues to get overlooked in DFS even though he has had a strong second half of the season. Since the All-Star Break, Harper has a .352 wOBA with 11 HR’s. He also has a nice track record against Dillon Gee going 6/16 with 2 HR’s.
Additional Plays: Denard Span

Pitcher Grind Down
- Taijuan Walker – Walker got off to a rough start against the Astros, but settled into a groove and ended up striking out 7 batters in 5 and 2/3 innings of work. He’s one of the Mariners top prospects, but he has a tough task ahead of him tonight. The Rogers Centre is one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks in baseball and we saw what happened to Walker’s teammate James Paxton the other night. Walker has more downside than upside in this matchup. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6300 FD, $10900 DD, $7800 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Mark Buehrle – Buerhle continues to pitch better than his peripheral stats would suggest. He owns a 3.53 ERA (4.18 xFIP) with a low K/9 of 5.1. His limited strikeout potential makes him a tough pitcher to target in DFS because he has to have a near perfect outing to exceed his value. Even against a lefty-hand heavy Mariners offense, you can safely avoid Buehrle tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6500 FD, $11700 DD, $6100 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Seattle
Robinson Cano – This isn’t a typical lefty/lefty matchup. Buehrle has given up a .331 wOBA to batters from the left side of the plate and Cano has a .333 wOBA against left-hand pitchers. Cano also has a great track record against Buerhle going 9/26 with 3 HR’s off of him.
Additional Plays: Austin Jackson, Kyle Seager
Toronto
Edwin Encarnacion – Encarnacion is one of the top plays at first base tonight. He is playing at home in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre and has been terrific against right-hand pitching this season with 29 HR’s. Encarnacion is also swinging a hot bat with 14 hits and 13 RBI’s over his last 10 games.
Additional Plays: Jose Reyes, Jose Bautista

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jake Odorizzi – Odorizzi takes the mound for the Rays tonight in Fenway. Odorizzi has an elite K/9 of 9.3, but he does have some glaring splits on the road. He has a 6.06 ERA while giving up a .379 wOBA to his opponents on the road. Even though he has good strikeout potential here, he’s an extremely risky option on the road against the Red Sox. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7700 FD, $14350 DD, $8600 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Anthony Ranaudo – Ranaudo has now given up at least 3 earned runs in each of his last 5 starts. On the season he owns a 5.29 ERA (5.82 xFIP) with one of the lowest strikeout rates in baseball with only 3.6 K’s per 9 innings. Ranaudo has little to no fantasy potential tonight and can be avoided in all leagues. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5500 FD, $8750 DD, $5500 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Tampa Bay
Evan Longoria – Longoria is one of the top plays at third base tonight. He draws a very favorable matchup against Anthony Ranaudo who has given up a .373 wOBA to right-hand hitters. He also gets to face him in the hitter-friendly Fenway Park.
Additional Plays: Ben Zobrist, Nick Franklin
Boston
David Ortiz – Ortiz draws a nice matchup against Odorizzi who, as mentioned above, has struggled on the road this season. Ortiz has a .364 wOBA against right-hand pitching and a .361 wOBA at home this season.
Additional Plays: Yoenis Cespedes

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kyle Lohse – Lohse has had a rough second half of the season. Since the All-Star Break, Lohse has a 4.62 ERA while giving up a .352 wOBA to his opponents. It’s typically not a great strategy to target pitchers that are trending in the wrong direction, but this may be a nice time to buy low on Lohse as he does draw a favorable matchup against the Reds who have the 3rd worst team wOBA over the last 30 days. Lohse is in play as a contrarian #2 starter on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 5.5
Salaries: $6900 FD, $13750 DD, $6600 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Daniel Corcino – Corcino will make his 3rd career start tonight against an ice cold Brewers offense. While he is a small underdog, his cheap price tag puts him in play as a contrarian tournament play. Corcino has averaged close to 8 strikeouts per 9 innings over the last few years in the minors and is facing a Brewers offense that has the 5th worst team wOBA over the last 30 days. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6000 FD, $8950 DD, $5800 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Carlos Gomez – Gomez’s price is suppressed on most fantasy sites and this could be a nice night to buy low on him. He’s facing a rookie pitcher in a HR-friendly ballpark. Gomez provides a nice source of speed (34 SB’s) and power (22 HR’s).
Additional Plays: Gerardo Parra, Scooter Gennett
Cincinnati
Devin Mesoraco – Mesoraco homered in last night’s win over the Brewers and makes a solid play again tonight. On the season, the #MESOROCKET has a .393 wOBA against right-hand pitching and a .396 wOBA at home.
Additional Plays: Todd Frazier

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kyle Kendrick – Kendrick hasn’t been a viable option many times this season. He has a low K/9 (5.5), a high ERA (4.73), and he is giving up an average of 1.2 HR’s per 9 innings. Even against a Giancarlo Stanton-less Marlins lineup, Kendrick is an average pitching option tonight. His limited upside and lack of run support make him an easy pitcher to avoid. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $6400 FD, $11500 DD, $6400 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Brad Hand – Hand draws a nice matchup against the Phillies, but that’s about all he has going for him tonight. On the season he has a mediocre 4.59 ERA (4.25 xFIP) with a K/9 of only 5.6. He’s walking more than 3 batters per 9 innings and has really struggled with hitters from the right side of the plate. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5500 FD, $10100 DD, $5600 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Philadelphia
Carlos Ruiz – As long as Ruiz is in the lineup tonight, he makes a viable value play at catcher. Ruiz has a .383 wOBA against left-hand pitching this season and Hand has given up a .342 wOBA to batters from the right side of the plate.
Additional Plays: Marlon Byrd
Miami
Christian Yelich – Yelich is one of the top cash game plays on the board tonight. Kyle Kendrick has given up a .364 wOBA to batters from the left side of the plate and Yelich has one of the highest floors of any outfielder in daily fantasy baseball.
Additional Plays: Casey McGehee
