Utah
The Jazz are a talented young team that is going to be inconsistent all season long. After being blown out by the Mavericks, the Jazz blew out the Suns at home. Tonight they travel to L.A. to take on a Clippers team that has gotten off to a very slow start. The Clippers barely beat the Thunder and the Lakers and then lost to the Kings at home. That may give the Jazz some hope heading into tonight’s contest, but Vegas thinks otherwise as the Jazz are 9-point underdogs.
Prime Plays
NONE
Secondary Plays
Derrick Favors – The only thing holding back Favors from being a prime play tonight is potential foul trouble. He’s going to matched up against Blake Griffin for portions of the game who is one of the best at drawing fouls.
Alec Burks – I’ll continue to recommend Burks over Hayward as long as their is a big pricing difference between the two. They have similar upside and Burks is much cheaper. He’s in a favorable matchup against J.J. Redick tonight.
L.A. Clippers
The Clip Show is 2-1, but they haven’t looked great so far this season. They have a ton of talent and it’s only a matter of time before they start playing like it. From a daily fantasy perspective, it’s actually helped their fantasy value because they haven’t been blowing teams out and their starters have been seeing a full complement of minutes. Tonight they face the Jazz who are one of the slowest-paced teams in the league at 95 possessions per 48 minutes.
Jamal Crawford did not play in yesterday’s game against the Kings as he is dealing with a rib injury. If that were to force him out of tonight’s game, both J.J. Redick and Matt Barnes would see a small fantasy boost.
Prime Plays
Blake Griffin – Griffin is averaging 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists per game through the Clippers first three games. His points and assists are both sustainable and I expect his rebounding totals to increase here shortly. He draws a favorable matchup against the Jazz who are currently ranked 24th against opposing PF’s this season.
Secondary Plays
Chris Paul – The Clippers subpar play hasn’t had anything to do with Paul. He’s averaged 17 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. He’s the top PG on the board tonight, but you are going to have to pay up for him.
J.J. Redick – Redick has gotten off to a slow start this season, but you can’t expect his 24% from the field and his 17% from the three-point line to continue much longer. He’s still managed to score 15 FP’s per game on FD despite shooting so poorly. All that tells me is that as soon as his shots start to fall, he’s going to easily reach value.
