Roy Halladay-ly Value Picks
Roy Halladay-ly Value Picks

There are certain players that, no matter their cost, they are always attractive options. In football…Chris Johnson. In basketball…LeBron James. In baseball…Roy Halladay that guy. Add to the matter that in baseball the Pitcher is by far the highest scoring position, that there is often just one roster spot for Starting Pitchers, and that Roy Halladay has some fresh Marlin on the grill, and it becomes easy to pay tribute to the dearly-departed George Steinbrenner and heave wads of money at the top available talent. The problem is that we don’t have the luxury of the luxury tax in fantasy, we have the good ole’ salary cap (oh the thought of the former option in daily fantasy baseball…). And if we daily Grinders exceed our cap, then we don’t get a team at all.

“Value picks are for sissies.”
RotoGrinders is proud to implement our new approach to any daily strategy columns. Instead of focusing on finding value picks generally and across all sites, we are instead choosing one Daily Fantasy site’s roster and player costs for that day in order to effectively focus on the true strategy. We will rotate through each of the sites tracked on RotoGrinders with every new strategy article. This way more focus can be applied to implementing these strategies after reading. Today we are featuring FanDuel , and compiled a list of one offensive value pick per roster position to help you seize the Halladay. OK, I apologize for that one, I’ve killed it. Let’s get to it:
August 3rd, 2010 Value Pick Per Roster Spot – FanDuel
| Position | Player | Player Cost | Max Cost at Pos. | Quick Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C | Chris Snyder | $2,800 | $3,800 | Immediately placed 5th in lineup after trade from ARZ |
| 1B | Travis Ishikawa | $2,400 | $3,900 | Already underrated and going against Cook’s 5+ ERA |
| 2B | Sean Rodriguez | $2,700 | $3,800 | Pena out, and this is Duensings first real test against a team that handed it to Pavano just last night |
| 3B | Miguel Cairo | $3,000 | $3,600 | Playing well no that he’s in the lineup and has a solid matchup vs. Malholm (4.52 ERA) |
| SS | Alcides Escobar | $2,800 | $3,800 | Average lines for below average price vs. Diamond’s first start of season |
| LF | Ryan Braun | $3,100 | $3,900 | A monster also going against Diamond’s first play of season. This could get ugly. |
| CF | Colby Rasmus | $2,900 | $3,800 | Good pick even if not going against Norris’ 5.63 ERA |
| RF | Ross Gload | $2,500 | $4,100 | Starting at 1B for Howard. Very solid line through 84 ABs this season and going against West and his first start this season. |
| P | Roy Halladay | $9,700 | $9,700 | See Paragraph 1 |
| Fan Duel Salary Cap | $35,000 |
|---|---|
| This Team’s Salary Cost | $32,900 |
This roster would provide you with a clean $3,100 under the FanDuel salary cap today to do some Steinbrenner spending with. Use the extra room to slightly modify 3-5 spots, grab a stud in 1-3 spots, or just use this list after you complete your roster to fill in empty spots you are struggling to make up your mind on.
