FanDuel World Fantasy Baseball Championships Announced!
FanDuel is the first to announce their big plans for the upcoming MLB season, and what they’ve unveiled is extremely exciting. We’re not just looking at one big event; instead, the World Fantasy Baseball Championships will consist of eight contests over a one-week period that will exceed $5 Million dollars in prize winnings!
The WFBC will hold both live and online events, with the live events being held in lovely Las Vegas! The event will kick off on Tuesday, August 12th, and will conclude with the $3,000,000 DFBC live final on Saturday night. Here’s a breakdown of all the different contests being offered throughout this mind-blowingly awesome event:
Tuesday, August 12th
$100,000 Tuesday Warm-Up
Leading off the World Fantasy Baseball Championships is the $100,000 Tuesday Warm Up. It’s $25 to enter, and this is a contest that will appeal to players with big and small bankrolls, and it’s a great tournament to get people excited for the rest of the week. The Warm-Up is an online final that will award $15,000 to first place!
Wednesday, August 13th
$100,000 Micro Championship
Want a chance at big money with a low entry fee? The $100,000 Micro Championship is for you. With a $10 entry fee this contest is the ultimate bankroll friendly contest, an online event where first place will take home $11,000!
Thursday, August 14th
$250,000 Single Entry Championships
If you’re a fan of single-entry GPP’s, you’ll enjoy this one. The Single Entry Championships will consist of four different events, each being a single-entry event. The total prize pool for the four tournaments will total $250,000, and the first place prize for each will be announced closer to the start of the WFBC.
$250,000 High Roller (Live Event!)
$250,000 in prizes and only 25 entries maximum make this the ultimate tournament for high rollers. Everyone who enters will be given a three night trip to Las Vegas, where they and a guest will party in style. Each contestant will be flown to the Cosmopolitan in Vegas and will also receive a Vegas prize package. The buy-in for this contest sits at a steep $12,500, and first place will take home $100,000! If you have the bankroll to support a tournament like this, you don’t want to miss out.
High Roller contestants will be treated to an amazing long weekend. They’ll be flown to Vegas, picked up by a limo, given three nights in the Cosmopolitan hotel, entry for two into the High Roller viewing party, and entry for two to our Friday night King of the Diamond party hosted in a private suite at the Cosmopolitan. I think it’s safe to say you’ve never experienced a weekend of fantasy baseball quite like this before.
Friday, August 15th
$1,000,000 King of the Diamond
Back for 2014, the $1,000,000 King of the Diamond is the biggest one-day event FanDuel will be running. You’ll be able to enter directly for $200, or win an entry via a satellite tournament. FanDuel will be hosting a massive King of the Diamond party on August 15th for everyone in Vegas for the High Roller, Survivor, and DFBC finals, so while this is an online event, it will still feel like more of a live final. First place wins $150,000!
Saturday, August 16th
$100,000 Survivor Final (Live Final!)
The Survivor tournament will start with a maximum of 5,288 entries in Round 1 – finish in the top 75% and you’ll advance to the next round. Make it to the final round of five and you’ll win a trip to Las Vegas for the Championship party on August 16th! Enter for just $25… First place wins $16,000!
$200,000 Survivor Final (Live Final!)
This is the ultimate Survivor contest, where the field will start with a maximum of 1,236 entries in Round 1 and will dwindle down the final five, who will each win a trip to Las Vegas for the Championship party on August 16th! Enter for $200, first place takes home $40,000!
$3,000,000 DFBC Final (Live Final!)
Ahh, now we’re talking. This is the event everyone will be anticipating all week, and it features a HUGE $3,000,000 prize pool! The winner will become a millionaire after just a few hours of watching baseball, how can you beat that? 70 finalists will win a luxury trip to Vegas to play out the DFBC live at our Championship party on August 16th. DFBC qualifiers will be run multiple times a week, with entry fees as low as $10. The first of the qualifier will be held on Tuesday, April 1st ($10 buy-in).
I had to read this over a few times before I actually took it all in, but it’s going to be an absolutely amazing week of baseball. If you can sneak your way into any of these live events, it will surely be a weekend you won’t forget anytime soon, and there is some serious cash on the table throughout the week. If you’ve ever wanted to quit your job in hopes of pursuing DFS full-time, taking down one of these monstrous first place payouts would be a big step in the right direction!
Seriously though, FanDuel has done a great job putting this all together and it looks like the most anticipated week of fantasy baseball on tap this summer. More announcements will come as we get closer to August, but they’ve given us a pretty detailed account of what to expect, and now it’s time to start really looking forward to the MLB regular-season!
