A Valuable Lineup: Week 6

NFL Week 6: A Valuable Lineup

greg jennings face

How to Read the Table: Each week we will give you our most ‘Valuable Lineup’. These are our top-picks while factoring in the cost of that player at a certain site or sites. The first number listed for each player and under each site is how much it will cost you to acquire that player for your lineup for that specific site, and the second number (after the forward slash) is the max cost for a player of the same position on that same site. While we definitely recommend this lineup for the week, you can almost always create a more optimal lineup depending on the site you use and their salary structure. To do that, make sure to hone your skills by playing as much as possible and discussing strategy in our forums.

Week 6 Site

Draft Zone – This week we will feature Draft Zone. If you are unfamiliar with the site or its rules, roster and scoring, than you can view our Review of DZ as well as their scoring settings here: Draft Zone Review. Awesome Bonus of the Week: If you sign up for DraftZone through RotoGrinders you will be instantly credited with $10! I would suggest trying out their new Unlimited Entry, $500 Guaranteed NFL tournament, held weekly or you can try out the best Live Sit-and-Draft software in the industry.

The most important thing to know about Draft Zone is that they use PPR scoring. I would describe their salary structure as right in the middle of tight and loose (no, I’m not going there.). Overall, it is very fairly structured, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find glaringly obvious picks from time to time as well. With PPR and 3 WR spots factored in, if you are not sure, than Wide Receiver is a good place to start. However, this week was a unique one, as the Rex Ryan in me had my mind set on Defense. In addition, I find WR to be much deeper than RB this week, so I present to you the **Steelers Special*

A Valuable Lineup – NFL Week 6

Position Player PPG Salary Max Cost at Pos. Notes
QB Roethlisberger, Ben 0.0 $3,810 $10,000 Sure he might be a little removed from a full speed NFL game, but when David Garrard is 2x the cost of Big Ben, it’s tough to pass this deal up. Sure I could’ve gone with Cutler and upgraded somewhere else, but this is a one-time value pick that I feel is necessary to take.
RB Gore, Frank 20.7 $11,380 $12,000 By taking Big Ben, I’m no able to get an 18+ touches per game stud RB vs. the 2nd worst Run D as well as one….
RB Johnson, Chris 19.1 $10,110 $12,000 Suddenly the QB gamble-pick is looking pretty safe. These two could easily finish 1 and 2 this week.
WR Colston, Marques 10.7 $5,410 $10,000 Expect a super-loud, extra-agressive pre-game yelling session from Mr. Brees before this game. Do you really think the Saints are going to lose two straight? Especially when the Bucs gave them their only real loss last season? Guess what? They’re not going to win running the ball with LaDell Betts and Chris Ivory either
WR Knox, Johnny 8.1 $5,170 $10,000 He’s not a #1 WR in the truest sense of the word…but he is the #1 in Chicago. Cutler back + porous Seattle pass D = high-potential written all over it.
WR Jennings, Greg 10.1 $4,130 $10,000 Oh, Gregory…What do I do with you? I draft you as my WR1 in two of my main season-long leagues. I guess I put too much stock in Driver getting hurt this season….WHAT’S THAT?!? Driver is banged-up this week finally??? And Finely?!? AND Coach McCarthy is specifically quoted as game-planning to get you more involved??? Gregory, if you don’t get it done this week…when will you? (I’m going to Hell for rooting for injuries…)
TE Gates, Antonio 23.8 $9,000 $9,000 His positional separation is getting absurd at this point. On DZ, he is averaging 23.8 Points Per Game. Meanwhile, 2nd place is all the way back at 15.7. He is a must play until this gap gets closer or V Jax returns.
K Longwell, Ryan 4.0 $2,820 $6,000 Uh, thank you DZ algorithm glitch? So his past stats suck this season. Fact. The Vikings offense is finally back, and barring some elbow tendonitis flare-up, it is here to stay. With this value, I don’t see how you could choose a different kicker. He hasn’t missed this season…
DT Pittsburgh 18.8 $8,000 $8,000 While the positional separation isn’t as large as Antonio’s is, it is there. In addition they have the dream match-up of all dream match-ups: an already bad team, now made worse. Colt McCoy looked like a stuttering bafoon in the preseason. I honestly think he might die on Sunday. There is a solid chance that Polamolu kills Colt McCoy. You heard it here first. Cleveland should be sued for letting this game take place; but they need to hold it so that their all-factories economy does not collapse on itself. If you told me preseason that Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis would be facing the Steelers D armed with Mohammed Massaquoi and Benjamin Watson…I would punch you in the face.
Salary Cap Used: $59,830
Total Salary Cap: $60,000

Normally, I post a lineup that falls below the Salary Cap, but this week, I thought I would show one I could actually use in a league. Below are some more value picks that you could sub in and out, that would give you a very Valuable Lineup.
