AFL DraftKings Picks: Monday, July 20th DFS Strategy
The fifth day of Round 7 is the final match of the round and the 1st game on a Monday night in Australia in quite some time! The Adelaide Crows host St Kilda in Adelaide, the first game at the Adelaide Oval since Round 2. The slate gets underway at 19:40 Australian Eastern Standard Time (05:40 ET Monday). The Crows are winless through 2020 but do get to play at their home ground, whilst the Saints are looking to bounce back from their shock loss to Fremantle.

Paddy Ryder returns to the side after a couple weeks on the sidelines with the form of Rown Marshall keeping him out. The Saints also bring a new rookie in Ryan Byrnes. Taylor ‘Tex’ Walker returns to the Crows side who are looking for their 1st win of the season.

Fantasy Contests Available
DraftKings have posted their main GPP contest with a $20,000 USD pool for a $11 USD entry. The contest is a 64 max contest. DraftKings are now starting to post contests and salaries at earlier times which is fantastic to study for lineups.
Lineup Building tip: No matter where you look Adelaide is giving up a stack of fantasy points to opposition teams, especially through the midfield and forwards. Reilly O’Brien has restricted Ruck scoring so it is not exactly across the board. The Saints are warm favorites here and stacks will be popular. Saints midfielders will be super popular.
Players of Interest
Ryan Byrnes – M – $3,400
Ryan Byrnes will make his senior debut on Monday night against the Crows after a string of eye-catching displays at reserves level. The 19-yo midfielder can play inside midfield and boasts great breakaway speed and a knack for racking up possessions. How much time he gets in the midfield is debatable but at that price he is the value play of the slate.
Reilly O’Brien – R – $8,000
With the savings from Byrnes, then selecting O’Brien is more palatable after being super in the ‘Twittergate’ match against Nic Naitanui. The Saints have brought back Paddy Ryder to combat O’Brien which kills all of Rowan Marshall’s fantasy upside (65, 77 & 67 when Ryder is in the team). O’Brien leads the Crows in fantasy scoring with an average of 92 in his past five matches.
Dean Kent – F – $4,700
This is a GPP play only but if you believe that the Saints are going to win by 6+ goals then Kent should be knee deep in goals up forward. The Crows are number 1 league in fantasy points against in this position and we need to pay down to get to the $8K options in the midfield. 71FP against the Blues in Round 5 shows he has upside but I would not be that interested if you are playing in cash.
Jack Steele – M – $8,400
Nothing tricky here, just keeping it simple. Steele has been consistent and at times straight out dominant, from a fantasy perspective. With a ceiling of 110 and season low of 70 points he is in an elite position on this slate against the Crows as highlighted above.
