Weather Forecast

We are playing at Marvel Stadium for the North Melbourne and Sydney match which is an indoor venue, so no issues first up. However rain is forecast in the Melbourne area throughout the day which means the Collingwood vs St. Kilda is highly likely to be played in wet conditions. In Brisbane, dew has caused slippery conditions at night for the Brisbane v West Coast matchup. The rain should ease in Geelong for the night match between Geelong v Carlton. As you can see in the markets, the totals have suffered in these weather affected matches.

Final teams can be accessed via the League’s Website afl.com.au for this match and a reminder that confirmed starters are at 60 minutes before the match commences.

Fantasy Contests Available

DraftKings have posted their main GPP contest with a $50,000 USD pool for a $10 USD entry. The contest is a 150 max contest. However, once contests are filled that is it! They do not continue to grow, so ensure you have your entry in your chosen contest reserved!

Quirky Fact – Through two rounds Brisbane’s Lachie Neale leads the competition in fantasy scoring averaging 108.5 fantasy points per game. Currently, West Coast are 2nd in the league for most points against opposition midfielders through 2 rounds.

Lineup Building tip: As highlighted in the weather conditions, rain can affect fantasy scoring with key position players least likely to score fantasy points through Marks and Goals. The actual football can be difficult to possess however the amount of tackles can increase in wet conditions. Look for tacklers in the Collingwood and St Kilda teams if you are looking to find an edge. Geelong being the big favourite on the slate will be the focus of slate stacks, with the Cats playing at their home ground.

Players of Interest

Archie Smith – R – $2,500

The main Ruckman for the Lions, Stefan Martin has been ruled out through injury and thus the young Smith will play back up Ruck. Smith is of limited value on this slate and he will likely play over 50% of his time in the Ruck. Oscar McInerney will take on the main Ruck duties but expect Smith to make value but there is some merit to a fade.

Lachie Neale – M – $8,100

This pricing is getting up there, especially in the shortened games. He may also be difficult to squeeze in without more value opening up. That said, I really expect the Lions to demolish the Eagles on this slate. West Coast struggled in Queensland conditions (Brisbane/Gold Coast area) in Round 2 and with dew likely, Neale will relish in these conditions.

Oliver Florent – M – $5,800

Florent was sensational last week against the Bombers notching up 90 fantasy points, bringing the average to 80 per game on the season. He is playing as part of the big three for the Swans through the middle this year with 19 center bounce attendances last week, on par with Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker. With the lack of value on this slate I will be looking for a much more balanced lineup that will include a number of these mid-price range selections.

Brayden Maynard – D – $5,200

Maynard has escaped the price rise from DraftKings after scoring 76 Fantasy Points against the Tigers in Round 2. The weather forecast is a concern as Maynard plays ‘loose’ in defense and doesn’t tackle as much as his team mates. However his past history is very sound and represents solid value on the slate.

Jared Polec – M – $6,400

With the indoor conditions and up against a young Sydney midfield, Polec will enjoy the fast pace match up against the Swans. Polec leads the Kangaroos midfield in fantasy scoring yet is always overshadowed by the bigger clubs. Polec is priced $1,000 to cheap on this slate.
