Top DFS Picks

Nico Hulkenberg: He’s starting in the top 10, three spots ahead of teammate Kevin Magnussen. At just $4,000, he’s one possible path to a Verstappen + Red Bull lineup that looks good on paper. The pairing hasn’t been necessary in recent races thanks to improved constructor performances by Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari at various times. However, Max was once again the victor in the sprint race and remains a massive favorite to win the Grand Prix. I could see Sergio Perez holding pace with Piastri and making the expensive stack viable. Even if you drop down to McLaren (starting 2nd and 7th) or Mercedes (starting 3rd and 5th), you can still leverage Hulkenberg for a cheap shot at finishing ahead of Magnussen and an outside shot at the top 10.

Max Verstappen: Starts on the pole. While Lando Norris is showing strength in recent races, we’ve seen dominance from Max to the point where he’s been the captain of a winning lineup even at the astronomical prices he garners. You are forgiven for doubting his necessity (priced at $15,400), but most of the evidence points to another large collection of laps led and a trip to the top of the podium.

Carlos Sainz: If you’re looking for a little excitement off the beaten path of typical roster constructions, consider Sainz. He finished 5th in the sprint race and qualified 4th. Both times he’s been just behind George Russell in the Mercedes, but he’s also $800 cheaper. A world in which he stands on the podium is not a wild pipe dream given the evidence so far, and Ferrari could desperately use a pick me up after suffering through a recent stretch of Mercedes and McLaren celebrations at their expense. The pre-race arrow is finally pointing up for Sainz, and now would be a good time for a big finish given how hard McLaren is breathing down Ferrari’s neck in the constructor standings.
