Goalie
Carey Price – If there were ever a spot for Price to “get right,” this would be it. Ottawa scored three goals yesterday, so by the law of averages, they should not score for another 24 days. In reality, the Senators have been one of the worst offenses in the league. Despite having some talented forwards, they have not run a system conducive to fast play or generating a volume of quality scoring attempts. Ottawa playing without a top scorer in Mark Stone helps, as well. While Montreal’s defense has certainly had their struggles, they should be able to win their 5v5 matchups. Where they are most vulnerable is on the penalty kill, so it helps that the Senators have been one of the least productive power play teams in the league. Heading into the game this afternoon, Ottawa has the sixth lowest rates of both shot attempts and high-danger attempts, while also sporting the lowest scoring chances-for per hour on the power play. If Price cannot get it done here, well, there is always next year.
